Sad day indeed when I need to jump through similar hoops on Gog - even though they went on record by promising one world wide flat price and no Regional Bullshit. Having said that however I'm genuinely surprised the Aussie price isn't jacked up, still got these other 2 mystery games to go though I guess.

What puzzles me is the discrepancy between African countries. I admit, I'm not extremely familiar with the economic state of Africa, but I seriously doubt all of those countries are significantly richer than Egypt. The differences between Asian countries are even more hilarious; why Taiwan and Thailand are being charged more than China and Japan is beyond me. The fact that Australia and New Zealand are getting US prices, though, is a rather pleasant surprise.

I don't know, the way these prices are arranged makes it seem like the publisher had a certain number of darts with "US price" written on it and had someone randomly throw them at a world map.

Germans are also charged 55/62 USD. It's the Steam way: USD == Euro.
Fuck you gog, you lost another part of the credit I gave you. You betrayed your word and policy. Next will be some lame excuse why there must be an DRM somewhere, give it another year or so and we get the first exception which will only be the first sign on the road. As long as the publishers disrespect the intelligence of their customer there is no money from me and gog are willing helper in this case as they made clear. Speaking for myself AoW3 can go to hell as I'm not giving one cent to support this kind of bullshit.
As someone else told already: RIP gog. Customers like me are telling others about it and stop recommending you, thats how this things work. So enjoy the path you have chosen. It began with certain adventure games with some shitty little developers selling the german customers to a certain publisher (rondo media, known for especially shitty games) charging extra. Gog had made promise to speak in behalf of the gamers, knowing what most of the gamers want. Trying to get old games which are unavailable back, they also promised no DRM AND they promised "one world, one price". Breaking promises has consequences on the long run, my crystal ball tells me so. Just tell us: why should we prefer you over steam if you make the same shit? Ah, yes, you don't know .. well I'm sure many of us don't know either.

My guess would be that it's all about how interested the publishers are in the according markets of those countries. Staying competitive on the markets in Russia, Poland, China, Japan seems of greater priority to them than offering fair prices for Taiwan, Thailand, Ghana or Slovenia, so I think in the latter cases it's really more of an "whatever, we're not that interested in your money away, so just take it or leave it".

I think it has also to do with the size of the markets - more potential buyers --> lower prices, but fewer buyers --> higher prices.
It all boils down to trying to make the most money possible per market, plain and simple.

Australian prices are always a crapshoot. Depends on the publisher - its almost a given if certain ones come onboard prices for those games will be at least 40% - 60% higher for us ie EA or 2K


A lot of those prices look really really stupid ie africa/asia..... lot of those countries purchasing power is very very low...thailand china (5% have money.. rest is on peanuts no matter what anyone says)

I think i found a way how to bypass this and make safe purchases.

Just to clarify: are the prices listed in the OP stated in US dollars? If so, then are the Australians still getting the same price as people in North America?

This post is missing the fees for foreign currencies.

In the EU region we not only have the usual $ to € fees, now we have the higher € price, like everywhere else, but GOG is still charging in Dollar. So in the euro area the game is more expensive here than to buy it directly on steam.
