The original Age of Wonders was the first (download) game I purchased with my new Windows 10 rig, 2 years ago.
Now for the first time I try to run it (finally:-) , the Menu Box appears for a few seconds then it all stops, and shuts itself down.
I tried any of the help shown here, and that DEP bs, but nothing works.
I changed compatibility to Windows XP Service Pack 2 as advised, and again nothing.
Anyone have more luck then me running on Windows 10? tia!

I got the same problem it was working a month ago but now it just crashes right away.
Out of curiosity I ran the game, it works fine on my WIndows 10. Have you had a recent update?
mine was similar to the other thread with DEP problems check my solution
I suppose I'll chime in here instead of starting a new thread.

The same started happening for me as well, it worked fine and then one day, the intro plays, but after the menu appears, it just crashes to the desktop. I've figured out that if you disable the sound in the settings completely, you can play it normally, except without sound.
I'm trying to get it working with sound and I'm trying to understand why it suddenly decided one day to just stop working like this. No driver was updated, Windows didn't update, the game didn't update. I uninstalled my antivirus, tried it DEP, compatibility modes, all kinds of settings, it just doesn't work with the sound enabled anymore.

I tried using this, didn't solve the problem, still crashes on the menu screen.
Try running it through dgVoodoo2.
If rivatuner is running try w/out that..
