I really love Age of Wonders 4, have it on Steam, and with the sales also bought a copy on GOG.

I expected that the game would store the saves in a fixed, non-platform-specific location and that the GOG version would simply use the Steam version's save files, but this does not appear to be the case.

Is there a way to use the Steam saves with GOG, so that I don't have to restart the campaign?

Are you asking about Age of Wonders 1? If so, the Save/Load dialog should allow you to change the directory, similar to a File dialog in Windows. Alternatively, you can find the game install directories in Windows Explorer and copy the files from the Save subdirectory. (Unless Steam does something funny with the Save files, not sure what to do in that case.)

I got a corruption warning, and only some of my progress has been restored. I did get some of the points for the Pantheon. I guess it doesn't quite work. Oh well, I can at least continue where I left off and I don't mind replaying some missions.

I do wonder why they use two completely different file systems, though. Would have been a lot more convenient if the Steam version also just put everything in My Documents.
