So I recently bought me a new laptop. It's a pretty good one and the specs should suffice massively.

But there is an issue, whenever I try to run the game, the intro is stuck on the first frame but the audio plays on. When I skip the intro I am stuck in the menu but I can't move the mouse. Nothing is recognized. Not the touchpad nor a mouse.

What could be the issue, I saw several other topics about this, but it didn't change much.

OS is Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium

I can only say I play AoW on Windows 7 64 bit as well and have no issues.

Hmm, that's really strange. Also on a notebook?

I'm playing on a desktop.and running on windows 7 64 bit ultimate. I am not sure what could cause your issues. Perhaps ask the staff of GoG?
I think it only happens to people who play on laptops, it has something to do with the mouseinput. Thanks anyway.
Are you using your touchpad, or a separate mouse?

Both work on my Vista 64 laptop. But getting at and adjusting the settings of mice are often a problem with laptops. That you don't mention seeing this problem in any other program tends to suggest it's not a mouse problem so much as the way the GOG program is interfacing with your system.

Every once in a while, something will start up in the background -- some lame arse program will try to update itself, say, or just look to see if updates are available, and that will take away control of my external mouse and force me to use my touchpad and reboot. I think Firefox and/or Adobe updates are guilty of that.
I have exactly the same issue when running on a new ASUS notebook in Windows 7 Premium. The game works fine on my desktop in Windows 7 Professional.
I had the same problem. I made it work. If I remember well I made it run in a windows instead of full screen. I might adjusted the resolution also. I hope this help, sorry do not remember exactly, but I think running in a window was the solution.

How do you get the game to run in a window?

I am not sure exactly how to do this with the GOG version of the game, as I have the original CD version. But you just need to run the Aow setup and go into the 'Settings'.

Change the drop down named 'Startup video mode' to Window. It's at the top, first option in the list.
Running the game in Windows mode fixed the problem. Thanks all.

Thank you, my man. I spent ages trying to get it work, tinkering with the settings. Never thought (or saw) to use the windowed setting. Much appreciated.
Worked like a charm for me to. Thanks for the great advice.
