Hi, I was on the one other thread mentioning some bugs. Well, I've determined that the bug where text disappears (most recently had all text gone from in battle mouse overs, but icons still present in text boxes) only occurs when loading an autosave from within the game (not when first launching).

Here is something else I added to the other thread in case it wasn't seen:

Since we seem to be making recommendations here as well, I have some. Customization. There isn't enough. It would be great to be able to switch right and left clicking so that it works as it did in the prior games. Also, it would be great to be able to invert the axis on the camera controls as they are backwards for me. They are also sluggish as previously mentioned.

It would also be great to have 2 autosaves at a time last turn and one back from the last turn. Or even to allow us to specify a number to keep around. Sometimes only one turn back is not enough to fix something gone terribly wrong and it's easy to forget to save for a while.

Also it would be great if you would someday add back in the fun little dungeon battles from AOW1 when exploring ruins and such. I really missed that feature in 2(.5). Seems each game puts less and less emphasis on strategy and I'm not too happy about that.

I second the need for a minimap in battles. Plus I want my camera to stop randomly switching angles in battle, that's so annoying.

I'm enjoying the game and have almost finished the second mission of the campaign, but it's sad that while I play I often think that I might have more fun playing through one of the older games. At least there is a new story and the maps are well designed. And with that, I'm off to actually play the game.

There's a setting for that in the options menu, fortunately. It's the first of two checkboxes that have to do with the camera, if I remember correctly.

Personally I don't care that much about it. It's Age of Wonders, I'm used to saving A LOT manually to make sure what you described doesn't happen. :)

Keep in mind that GOG usually delays a patch release to ensure that whatever new build works with different systems. Though annoying if you want the thing right away, the practice has paid off quite a few times when the developer patch ended up making the situation WORSE.

In my case, aside from the rather poor optimization, the game has been running great and is an absolute blast to play. I have really been loving the new Age of Wonders. Though I kind of wish there was a manual?

We are sorry for any GoG users wanting to participate in this test, but the DRM free installer means there is no branching / reverting / auto updating system available for us to deliver this beta patch to you. You’ll get the polished, official patch next week!

That is a shame, but at least they're honest about it.
Could some patch reduce upkeep of the units? I want have more units on the map, but high upkeep is serious constraint. Just look at the wargames where units stretch from one end of the map to the other in nearly unbroken line with reserves, military police, and airfields at the rear...

Uh, the opposite is the problem. We already have too many and too easily produced high-tier stacks.
Here is a pic of the type of error I've been getting in the game after loading saves within the game. Each time the errors have been in different section of the game, but always the text is garbled and/or missing. Also, in this case I cancelled the save and went into the save menu again and it stayed the same. Everything works fine and highlights properly and responds to clicks (or mouseovers when appropriate), but the game can be difficult to play depending on where the text disappears from.

Oh jeez! I must have done something wrong in first scenario of the campaign... Ok, how about this: reduce upkeep of lower tier units, especially the first irregular units that don't need barracks to make (High Elf Initiate, Human Civic Guard etc.)

Narvek: Likely fixes:
* WQHD / QHD (up to 2560 x 1440 / 2560 *1600) native resolution display support (the Black & White boxes and blurry text should disappear)
* Saving profile – e.g. graphics settings – fixed for the ‘Guest’ account.
* Frame Drops, particularly when having an army selected removed
It's a good thing that these are going to be fixed. But without this post/thread I would have asked my money back and probably never looked at this game again. So thank you Narvek for the info. I was quite frustrated when I bought the game yesterday ...
@PanzerAzelSaturn:

I've forwarded your post and screenshot to the programmers to have a look at. Sorry it all takes a while, we're very hard at work fixing a lot of things, we're going as fast as we can, thank you for your patience!

@tykinruoka: Another reason for me to be happy I posted that then :) Patch should go out to GoG tomorrow, so it's close :)
I have a bug in which my hero is unable to cast spells if he is blinded.
