On this site: http://aow.heavengames.com/strategy/cheats.shtml it says that I should add "beatrix" after AoW.exe but GOG shortcut is "C:\Games\Age of Wonders\Launcher.exe" AoWCompat" and if I add "beatrix" after that or before that it won't start the game.

So, is there any way to get this working? I would realy like to use the "explore" cheat for certain maps since AI is using the same cheat and I would like to play on high difficulty levels.

Anyone? Please? :)

Beatrix? Sounds like Triumph Studios are real royalists. :-)
Make a new shortcut of AoW.exe, it is unlikely that you need any of the compatibility devices set up by Triumph or GoG. Personally I deleted all of the shortcuts except for the email wrapper.
However, the campaign is fairly straightforward. Lifting the fog is not necessary.

Ok, I will try that when I can. Be back here if it works to mark a solution.

It worked! Thank you very much! I thought that compatibility stuff was necessary but eh, who cares. :)

I didn't need fog for the campaign. Don't want to spoil any suprises that game throws at me. Oh and I just found out that I can turn off exploration before starting a skirmish game. Damn my eyes... Still, thank you again for your help!

Marking as solved.

So I have tried making the shortcut and adding beatrix at the end in the command line. It will either say the file is invalid or it will just pop up and quickly close. Can someone help me out with this please?

Nevermind just figured out you have to put a space in there lol.

I've tried that but it doesn't seem to work, can anyone offer step by step instructions?

Any idea how one might be able to use cheats playing Aow on a mac with a wine wrapper or crossover?

By adjusting the command to launch the game. Show package contents, run WineSkin.app, choose advanced and add to EXE flags.

THANK YOU!
That's awesome.
I've never used the cheats before but I was playing some custom maps and I ran myself into a savegame where an enemy hero kept running up and killing my hero, causing me to lose the scenario every time. There was nothing I could do because of where i saved it. Maybe with some cheats though..
Thanks again, works like a charm.

The only other problem I'm having is when i click the "scenario" button on the main menu, the game freezes.. the music keeps going, but the game freezes and does nothing.
Anyone come across this problem?

I'm using Wine on Mavericks, MacOS.
It definitely didn't freeze before I installed Mavericks. Because I already had started and saved custom scenarios.
Mavericks is strange.. It actually fixed some of the glitches in my other games, but Age of Wonders it seems has lost the ability to load a custom scenario..

If anyone has a fix for this I'd love to hear it.

No idea. I don't actually game on Macs.

Thanks anyways.
Never figured it out.
Installed the game with Crossover, custom scenario works fine through that.

I don't suppose you'd know how to enable the cheats using Crossover huh?

Possibly:
In Crossover go to the Configure menu, pick Manage Bottles, choose the AoW bottle, edit the program run command adding beatrix like in the picture. Alternatively, Programs - Run command - Browse to the exe and add the EXE flag save as a separate command.
