I keep getting to the loading screen and then it just kind of stays there for a while before it finally crashes. Spent several hours last night trying to fix it but nothing seems to be working and it's starting to really frustrate me.

You might try to reinstall, I've heard before of someone experiencing similar difficulty and reinstalling the game (I think also redownloading actually) worked for them.
