Orcs, Day 46

We lose a little in one spot, make gains in another. Does it all balance out? Apples to Oranges. We hope.

TS
Dwarves, Day 46

This is not time to be careful anymore.

Cult of Storms, Day 46

Doom Bats really irritate me. They're such an all-or-nothing unit
Orcs, Day 47

We build more Doom bats to increase the irritation factor!

I feel like I'm fighting a rearguard action. Dammit, I'm supposed to be conquering, not being conquered.

TS
Dwarves, Day 47

It's not like we are attacking only to incur at least some damage to one side.
I swear.

I was thinking about this map few days ago aand I realised that I lost this map in that fight over that stupid furnace. If I had all those units available, I would be much stronger in the middle and very likely would have won there fairly decisively.
I attacked 1 warballoon, 1 gyrocopter and 3 scouts who are just reskinned glade runners, so the lowest tier units. I lost shaman, sniper, priest and 2 more priests very heavily injured as well as abomination (all left with 1 HP). My 2 heroes and warlord were injured to some degree as well. Of those heroes 1 was my strongest one on surface and the other one was decent one.
Even though I won I was in bad shape and the next night all area guards converged on my and finished off my army consisting off the listed units, mole, engineer, some and some other dwarven units (I think 12 units total before tha furnace fight). If I had those available I am quite sure things could go the other way.
I suppose others could have simmilar sotries but this one is where it went wrong for me.

I'll share my long term thoughts re: this map later. Still too early to do so.

Short term: Thinking that the three stacks at the bottom of the stairs would support each other was pretty damn huge. You killed off the cream of my forces with that move and took over the dominant position in the game. For a little while at least.

--------------------

Btw, you should definitely be throwing everything you have at me right now. No question. We've been playing against each other long enough that if there is the slightest chance of hamstringing me (within the parameters of this free for all map), then you should do it. Please don't give away gold, mana, structures or anything sketchy like that though. :-)

Things allowed and devious would be declaring war on Southern and moving all your troops in towns near him away from those towns. That wouldn't be giving them away by the letter of the law, but would serve the same purpose. Hmm, what else? Razing towns near me that I'll be conquering within the next turn or two. Given time, I'm sure we could come up with more...

I guess is selling all the good buildings is too obvious to a scurrilous knave like you to deserve mention

That doesn't help you. It hurts me, but not very much... :-)
Dark Elves, Day 47

It looks like Ballista addiction will have to go the same way as my Pioneer addiction. They are weak, or I am salty. Or both
I was thinking about it but I am not just such low-life to ever sell building to harm others. :-p

It's good you left out giving out useful spells. ;-)

Orcs, Day 48

The world is a better place now. Short people have been officially put in their place. Graves. Lots of graves. Good thing is that the rows of graves for short people take much less space.

Now we turn our attention to the sitting on the sidelines Dark Elves. Apparently, they forgot the adage about attacking with missile weapons. We have lots of firewood now for our homes.

Actually, the ballista served a valuable purpose. Without them, my seven Vampires would have focused on the proper units instead of attacking sticks of wood. Oh well. Those multiple stacks of enemy troops are now all gone and the real battles may begin. Attrition it is. Start digging the trenches.

GG, this was fun map.

Dark Elves, Day 48

We've almost explored the central part of our quarter of the underground, and it only took us 48 turns!

In that case, my ballistae+balloon brigade may see use in the future :p

It was a crazy ass map, that's for sure! Definitely a different concept than most maps. Always good to see creativity...
