Concerning Free Movement and Wind Walking combined with faster installation of Ships......the dreaded super Galleon + Free Movement combo is going to be even more OP.

Yeah, you can dispel the FM enchantment during tactical combat, but the Galleon's high speed will mean it's owner will almost always have initiative in choosing tactical or auto combat....and you can't use Dispel during auto-combat!

I DO have a SOLUTION though...if it's possible. Can you create a 'Water Crawl' ability similar to 'Cave Crawling' or 'Forestry'....but that only work on water hexes? So 'Water Crawl' would make travelling on water hexes cost 1/2 less.

IF you can do this = we can lower the ground movement of ships with FM, WHILE maintaining their high movement on the water. This will go a long ways to limiting their OP nature in games.

While the FM Galleons would still be powerful, they wouldn't be as fast as an Air Galleon while travelling across land hexes! This would also give Leaders/Heroes attacking enemy FM Galleons a chance to get initiative...and choose tactical = then it's possible to kill the Galleon with Dispel.

Playing the Campaign again (I don't mind starting over from scratch). Looking good!

Good work fixing the loot bug + setting loot/raze relations to 0! I like this a lot!

Love the Shipyards as Ports! Adds another element of 'realism/lore/immersion'!

Speaking of immersion, I like how smaller cities are cheaper to gear up their industry now. Upgrades costing less for smaller cities (that have less overall potential) = great!

woah... i think the city upgrade cost would be increasing per upgrade
f.ex upgr city 1 > 2 - cost 50 regardless the city size.

now it create some interesting drawback to upgrade big cities.

guys can we consider again changes to the vision range?

IMO the game vastly improve by the fact that normal unit see 1 hex shorter. Scouting gain a lot just by this 1 hex of passive vision.


current:

unit 4 hex range
buildings 6 hex range
tower 12 hex range
vision upgrade +2/4/6/8 hex range

Structures and cities should has lower vision range. This would increase importance of leaving units to detect invasion. It wrong that mine has longer detecting range than your archers.

Second with each vision range, the amount of hexes player see increase geometrically. I mean if you have see radius 2 you see 18 hexes, while if you gain +1: radius 3 you see 36 hex

or check this picture and compare area of detection for range 1 and range 3 of vision (its 7x)

i suggest (ofc including 1 passive vision reduction):

unit 4
building,cities 4 - remove 2, so its at least same as units.
tower 8 - i just stare for 10 min on AoW1 maps and 8 hex (where cursor is) would cover most sensible detection area. 10 is still a lot.

vision upgrade: + 2/3/4/5.... first level clearly distinguish scouts from common soldier, then each +1 of vision, grant still a lot of areal terrain detection.


if passive vision could be adjusted, then the it could be used to add more passive vision to buildings. Make sense that citizen have a knowledge about terrain, but dont know who currently is there.

Love it all except FM/WW ships. Does anyone like these? Seems to be the most common house rule? I guess I can't complain too much about something that was in 1.36 to begin with, but I thought taking them out was a big improvement. I do like Paradoxnrt's idea about Water Crawling. Is it possible to reduce Sailing movement point cost across hexes? I feel like it might be a longshot if Tunneling isn't figured out, but definitely a very cool idea that would allow ships to be fast in water and slow on land... the ideal balance for FM/WW ships in my mind.

I guess my concern is that producing Galleons so quickly just seems OP with FM/WW available. Makes Air Galleys feel pointless too.

Anyways, 1.44 is definitely better than 1.43 overall, but that'd be my biggest want (well mana also but I know we'll never all agree on that haha so I've dropped it). Thoughts?

Also, you'd mentioned a final multiplayer mod with no further support/changes if we could all agree on it. What if we used 1.44 as a template (as it's quite good), and then we all get one 'wish' and see what we end up with? If I hate other people's wishes then I'll just keep playing 1.44 lol. But I'm sure we could come up with something reasonable? I don't think we'll ever all agree on every single point haha.

My #1 Wish is Leadership getting a buff...something like +1ATT, +1DEF, +1RES to entire stack....maybe a +4 movement as well if possible.


*That said, 1.44 is pretty awesome! There is precious little I would change....although FreeMovement is a bit of an issue with OP Galleon rush.

Tavern would be just spawn point for new units that some modder could come up with.
Modder can just place the taverns on maps, but what if its only units Realease.hss change, and one like to play it on stock maps?

In the meantime, here's AoW+ v1.45 with unit spells no longer castable on machines. Again there is no need to remove any files and you can also continue old savegames.

As I have said several pages ago, please do not report bugs unless you can actually reproduce them in AoW+ without any HSS mods, and cannot also reproduce them in AoW v1.36.

what do you mean by AoW-OG ?

Age of Wonder - as a name was unoriginal in the time the game was released. People associate it with Age of Empires 1 & 2. Not sure if that was a marketing? Wonders in the title refers to valley of wonders, and the multi racial conflict for it.

"AoW=" because 2x minus is a plus :D
