Patch 1.4 is very good, we do play every game on it.

Oh sorry, I just realised you mean AoW1. We play the same patch you have for aow1. Aside from the big mods, the only patch I recommend for aow1 is the showscene crash fix. If you run into that crash, you can find the link by searching on this forum where I must have posted it about 3 times.
AoW2 is where we play 1.4.
And yes, I'd be fine to play a test PBEM with you, my PBEM email is jianglongqua@gmail.com
However, you can also test PBEM by putting your own email into the fields for more than one player, and playing against yourself that way.
