I previously purchased this one at GamersGate but got it again here for totally free DRM.

This is a real WarGamers title like Battle Front games, not like company of Heroes etc.
Harder to learn than Battle Front games.
Maps are based on real world maps, and is very realistic.

the forum to go to for help till this gets established here is

The developers of this game Graviteam have other games as well. Operation Star that is the next game after this one and the excellent Tankers game Steel Armor: Blaze of War.

Still learning them myself, but worth the effort.

Pick it up as it is a good entry into the series.

Actually no. Its an old, inferior, clunky, and uncontrollable version of Graviteam Tactics Operation Star. Its expensive, and its still sold by Paradox who literally screwed over original devs, they even took away the name by court, just to do jack all with it. Also original devs wont get a penny out of this, only the publisher that screwed them over, though that's normal with most of GoGs old game line up. :D

I would have to agree it is far inferior to Operation Star. I think all Graviteam games are a bit clunky, especially in comparison to Battle Front games, but for the price and the fact that it is DRM free I think it is worth a look at as an introduction to Graviteam games.

Considering there is a Bundlestars Graviteam Tactics Bundle going on(till december 16) for 7.5USD that includes all expansions, this game became largely uncompetitive in all regards. Even in GoG DRM terms since all Graviteam games are DRM free even on Steam. :) I used DLC bought on Gamersgate for the Steam version of the main game up until this bundle. :D

But as you said even at full price theres no question Operation Star is the better product. Well, its the same game but with +2 years of dev time, +4 years of patching, 7 expansions and a texture(horse-tank armour :D) DLC Kharkov never got due to Paradox messing up things. :(

Are these games anything like Men of War?

Similar but not the same. I would not buy this based on possibly liking Men of War.
Both are war games but the mechanics are different.
Watch a few YouTube videos and you can see how this plays.

Cheers
Recoil is a much better good old game.

I wonder when gog will bring that over.
