I got a phone call today that I'm sending spam on skype. I'm not using skype for ages, my account name as well as password were generic, not related to anything, so I don't think the problem lies on my side. http://community.skype.com/t5/Security-Privacy-Trust-and/Spoofed-message-from-contact/td-p/4026578
Seems like blocking live user helps..
If you had the same generic password and ID on other website that has been compromised, some spammer could be using them from there.

You may have a virus on your PC, run a scan.
Run virus scan; change account name & password; uninstall Skype on the PC in question for at least two weeks.

^^ ASAP.
If I was using skype I wouldn't answer a phone call unless it was expected. Just like my home phone... although I simply pulled that from the wall :)

whatcha mean?
Could be a virus but I don't think I have uknown one ; )
For everyday use I have avira running, also malwarebytes anti-malware for occasions like that. Even HitmanPro couldn't find anything more suspicious. My skype ID and password were unique, not used anywhere else (already changed) . Skype account not in use for ages and only on pc before that, I'm still running old good symbian on my ancient phone ; ) Email tied to skype seems to be fine, completely different ID and password and nothing more suspicious than usual spam. And of course I'm not used to click every link I can find around : )
no fb, twitter nor any accounts of that kind..

Then I'd start wondering what person you've Skyped with has had their account hacked, or who's making the fake phone call to you, pretending to be Skype.
Was the call from somebody you knew? My husband recently got a phone call from some with an Indian accent from Michigan who told him that there was a virus on his computer and that it was sending spam. My husband recognized it for a scam (he works in IT and we have very strong security, including a firewall) and very loudly told him off. I think in these cases the scammer will ask for information about the computer or passwords which of course you should never give.
Could be a back door program. Or a key-logger. Or someone forcing some sort of sync without your knowledge and noticing, between your system/activity and theirs. Nowadays, it is child's play to get unauthorized, distant access on somebody else 's system, protected or not. Malware and spyware have evolved to nightmarish, terrifying levels.

As a person who had 2 email addresses hijacked, has been hacked, doxxed, cyber and not only attacked from random strangers with sensitive and strictly personal info and even had various fake profiles constructed on random social sites without even my mere knowledge (let alone the horrifying knowledge of how and for what purpose they have been used), i can think up, read about and hint to you a million (figuratively) different ways, your system and privacy is vulnerable and at constant risk, daily, each and every second.

Best solution is to change your skype account details, like password, as others hinted; if you are still in control of it. Then, proceed to IMMEDIATELY notify your contacts, especially the business and serious ones about the fact you lost control of your account/access, warning them just in case some fool decides to faq up with you, your contacts and your life. And pull the plug on skype, at least concerning serious interactions. Mobiles are far from onmi-secure, let alone fullproof, but comparing to skype, it is far better by miles.

Do a websearch for the meme. I'm on a pad and it's on the level of a redwood trunk up your arse pain in the butt to link...
Well, I didn't say it was skypes phone call anywhere.. Actually it was my friend calling my cell phone. I've checked my history and indeed, looks like everyone from my list got a spam link from my account last night.. The only suspicious thing was a spam link from account named live which definitely wasn't on my friend list and of course I did not click on that link.. Same happened to many people according to link in my very first post..

The only backdoor I know already came hardcodced with my laptop as a feature ; )
