Being able to mark a game as "Not interested"
It is 5/23/2024. 5 years after this request. i agree, there desperately needs to be a "not interested" or "ignore this game" or "ignore this tag or genre" system implemented into the GoG storefront.
There are many games i dont want to even look at, let alone see every single time i browse for games i might want or try to load a game i own.
This was less of an issue in 2019, but today, with AI like co-pilot built into windows 11, other forms of tracking and data selling constantly happening, building a profile of everything you like and dislike based on mouse hover time, clicks, etc, etc, the situation has changed.
i would like to not have AI and trackers thinking i love an entire subject of which i actually deplore because i was looking for an "ignore" button for 15 minutes. AI is not capable enough to understand the difference in genuine interest, morbid curiousity, and disinterest or time spent on an effort to remove something you dont like. it assumes any attention is good attention, and this is terrible when in a storefront with no difinitive way to tell you dont care for a product.
This is so needed. I disagree with the promo issue. If I hide a game, I don't want it. I don't care if it's discounted or even free. Anything in regards to 'breaking functionality' should be easily fixed. If there are no items in the promo list, don't show the promo box.
And if hiding games really is problematic, then at least give us negative search term functionality like search engines. A '-' to exclude, and start respecting quoted strings.
So a search like
"Raft"
would only show games with the word "Raft" in them. Or only games called "Raft" exactly. Not craft, not rat, or rift... (Stop auto-correcting my searches!) And don't be afraid to show an empty results page.
And a search like
World -"Craft the World"
would show games with the word "World" but would exclude all "Craft the World" games and DLC.
Until this is a thing, the only viable option is to browse using Steam and just buy it here if they have it.
Outright hiding a game would break a lot of functionality - you could see a "Week Sale" promo with no items, empty carousel at the top... they'd have to do a lot, for a very marginal feature.
When it comes to entire genres/tas in search though, you can already use negative filtering: www.gog.com/en/games?excludeTags=online-only&excludeFeatures=multi
I'm not interested in anime porn, so basically being able to filter whole genres would be ideal.
yes, please! An Ignore Tag would be great, because I own loads of games already on other platforms.
Yes please. With thousands of games available in the store, some sort of "ignore/not interested" function is needed, so that I don't have to see the same games again and again if I search for specific tags.
PLEASE!!!
I couln't agree more! Store personalization would be a good feature.
Indeeed, I would like a feature that would allow me to hide the games tagged with something I don't fancy (e.g. "horror" tag).
Steam does this well and it helps personalizing the store view by dimming all the noise. The new GOG discovery view is not very useful without this feature, as it will keep "discovering" stuff you already know you don't like. You can also mine this information to improve personal recommendations.
Bloatware, shovelware, garbage games, begone!
It‘s a standard feature in Steam I oftentimes use especially for games I have on other stores or if it is a bad version or if I‘ve already got a disc copy of it and so on…
Agreed with this. There are games I'm heavily interested in on here and there are also quite a lot I'm also not interested in. Wish we could filter those titles out whenever browsing sales.
I'd like to see this taken a step further and have 3 "interest" options for each title on the store: no / maybe / yes.
The main idea behind this is to identify titles you've considered and have come to some conclusion about in terms of your interest. In other words I don't want to keep clicking on the same titles because I like the name or the icon or the sale price, only to find out it's something I've reviewed before and am not interested in.
A "no" tag could be greyed-out or perhaps hidden from view. The "maybe" would indicate you've already looked at this but didn't make a decision (waiting for more reviews, bug fixes, etc.) The "yes" is basically the current wishlist feature I guess.
Should work just like hide option in one's library, so that it's simple to view the hidden search results.
I would like this too. Useful to hide titles you know you don't want to be informed about during sales for example, so you can focus on what you really want. It's also a way for GOG to understand what their users don't like too much.
Agreed. For example, I'd love to be able to hide "Manga-style" games, or "multiplayer only" ones.
YES PLEASE. if I don't like I game I would love to throw it in a "no thank you box" (able to undo of course just in case I add a good game!) that way It makes searching easier! YES PLEASE YES!!!!!
