Star Wars: X-Wing completed
Greatest version of the X-wing game, even with the low resolution. I'd buy it in a heart beat if added to the recent Lucasarts/Disney release.
Avatar2312: Sorry, that's how the original game did it. There's only so much they can do without source code.
Also. Joystick calibration problems. Fire/Roll/Select target in rectangle are all tied to the same button. If I change the button for one, the other two also switch.
Anyone know how to setup tie fighter and xwing up to use joysticks? ie a hotas warthog?
This is the version I grew up with as it was the only version of any game in the series (to my knowledge) that was released for Mac. My joystick (read: PS3 controller) isn't up to par with my old Thrustmaster Top Gun and I wish I still had the mouse+keyboard option as well as the iMuse to go with my updated graphics.
Maybe they can add this to the purchase of the Special Editions and the DOS floppy editions. These were far superior to their predecessors.
This is the version I'm still waiting for :)
This is great. I just wish it were on OS X and Linux as well.
Where are they?!?! PC Gamer says this: www.pcgamer.com/x-wing-tie-fighter-coming-to-gog-tomorrow/

X-Wing should be re-released in some fashion. If not from GOG, then from Disney. Whatever, just bring X-Wing back!
Please release X-Wing Collector's Series on GOG. Every Space Sim I've played, I've benchmarked to this series. Nothing comes close. And I would definitely pay to replay these again.
+1, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and B-Wing.
NEED THIS.
Please Release all X-Wing Titles
Lucasarts games probably won't be coming for some time since Disney bought Lucasarts and closed them down in April 2013. Lucasarts site is though still online. Here link to the gameinformer article about the closing of Lucasarts: www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/04/03/disney-closes-game-publisher-lucasarts.aspx
Probably has the best gameplay and replayability of any space sim of the era, Privateer included. I'll be quite surprised if it hasn't aged very well. The power management stuff was great, the missions highly variable with scripted events but often with unpredictable results (I swear to god, I was once rammed into oblivion by one of the larger ships going a trillion miles an hour as it was jumping into hyperspace), the limited torpedoes/concussion missiles led to important strategic decisions, etc. You could take out the shield generators of a star destroyer. And blow up the death star after first clearing out the surface turrets and then doing a lengthy trench run. And it's a Dosbox game, so porting shouldn't be a problem. Do it!

I would re-buy this in a heart beat. I still have the originals up in my closet. Never could get them to work on updated OS's. What I mean by them is complete series. Sad on my behalf
Not a hard game to find(cough,cough).. try google
This is the game you are looking for. :-)
Someone needs to get Disney in line, because the absence of the X-Wing series in this library is criminal.
Please we need this wonderfull game!
Better would be to get the X-Wing Trilogy and get X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance in one set.
Please make this happen, GOG! I love these games (XW and TIE). I ACTUALLY learned my English playing TIE Fighter.
There is an edition X-Wing and TIE fighter on engine of X-Wing vs Tie fighter with textures.
I would buy that, I loved the X wing and Tie fighter video games back in the day.
This would be an automatic buy for me. Do IT GOG. DO IT!
I loved (and still do) the old Star Wars flight simulators.
So if they could get added to GOG and made compatible with the newer systems, it would be wonderfull.
It would be great to be able to play this game, along with the rest of the X-wing/TIE Fighter series again, especially since they won't run on current Windows systems. If this was available, I would buy it in an instant!
For the love of good games every where, get us this and TIE fighter, and any other old shool games from Lucas Arts, dont let the *shudders* Disney folks hog it all, and a big NO to X-Box 360 controllers, its joysticks all da way.
This game, I probably spent countless hours. Replayed it to death. And when I finally couldn't think of anything to do, I would do things like take down a Star Destroyer with my A-wing. I think it took over 3 hours! I'd love to play this again. Still have my original discs, but I'd purchase a revised digital version for sure.
I don't mind the untextured polygons; but I do mind that the MIDI score was replaced by dumb CD audio tracks which completely lost the most interesting features of the iMUSE system. I'd accept it if they included both versions so that people can install the one they prefer; but otherwise I'd be reluctant to get the Collector's Edition...
Agree with Lunchie....
It will be great to sell these games on GoG, but please, the Windows 95 version of them... My eyes thank you a lot.
Okay so I have been playing on the site I linked, EWWW the graphics are the non updated version of the game, makes it very errrrrm blocky.... plz plz plz GOG get this game and make sure its the updated collectors CD version!
Hey guys for those of you that simply can't live without Tiefighter/Xwing there is an option. The site I will link allows you to play it though an emulator which has been programmed to accept a joystick. Out of my deep respect and admiration for GOG and its staff I will be honest and say the version on the site I linked does not have the adjustability of actually owning the game nor does it have the updated graphics and sound that a proper updated version of any game has once GOG uploads it. So in essence it is playable but PLEASE PLEASE GOG get the real proper version for us to own and treasure. (collectors edition has 2X resolution)

This was a mainstay of my game library growing up. I would and many of my friends this would be a day one purchase. Its a pain to get to work in dos box because of lack of 6axis joystick support.
Yes TIE Fighter is better, but X-Wing is harder. There is no difficulty setting like in later games. Some missions are pathetically easy and others are brutally difficult. I actually never beat this game.
now that lucas arts has shut down, could seeing some of the older space sim games turn into a reality?
Xwing & Tie fighter should be bundled with Xwing vs Tie Fighter!
Tie Fighter is better but i voted anyway.
Very nostalgic game...
How many hours playing without a sound card on my father's 486Dx2 66 ! But I didn't bother. For me X-wing sound track will always be Michael Jackson and Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel :-D "Direct all power to engines, prepare for a jump!"
The first game a really got crazy about, to the point that very first time I didn't sleep at all til I got back home next day.
I honestly cannot think of another flight/space sim even close to being in the same league with this game. Ground breaking and extremely addictive. The only game I stopped playing because my new computer wouldn't run it instead of just getting tired of playing it.
I am with many of you, this was the first game I ever bought as a kid, and I bought it for my Mac back then. This was pre-internet and the version i had had a bug that crashed the game when launching one of the levels about 20 or so missions in, so i could never finish it. I would love to see this in the GOG list of games....I'd go buy a joystick to play it.
The first game I bought by myself. Since I played it with keyboard an mouse it was very frustrating (I ripted of one of the mouse buttons in a rage. :-/) and I never endet it. But I still have my old save-file. :-) It would be nice to play this one - and the even cooler T-Fighter - again. Make this happen gog-team, please!
The entire Xwing/TIE Fighter flight sim game line were simply incredible. Heck I'd pay $60 per if they re-leased the games with nothing changed but updated graphics. Getting these via GOG in their original format though would be the best!!!
