Metro 2033 / Last Light Redux on Linux
+100000
But it work nicely with lutris and wine
If that interested someone, the pcgamingwiki page state that there are no DRM-Free linux version of last light redux for linux ("All Linux versions require Steam DRM."). Epic Games Store seems to have a DRM-Free Mac version, however.
This is what happens when you buy from GOG; a more obscure venue will always lag behind in updates compared with the thoroughfare (i.e., Steam). It should come as no surprise a less popular venue gets less attention, sad as that may be.
This is a decision left to the developer. You should be asking the publisher or developer for clarification on this; not GOG. It is up to whoever manages their game's page on GOG to add the Linux versions of games.
At least tell us why you don't release the linux version an if there will be a linux version in the future?
Honestly GOG, why aren't you providing the Linux (and Mac) versions of Metro?
It's amazing how shit GOG really is... This game is available on Steam for years now. I was buying games on GOG only to support them and give them means to evolve and expand. I'm pretty sure most of people purchased games there fir the same reason. Now I regret giving my money to this company. Never again I guess.
It is ridiculous that Steam now has better support for Linux than GOG. This also means that in the future I have to buy games from Steam instead of GOG, because I want to run them on Linux - Windows 7 has reached the end of its life cycle.
Simply buy it on Steam.
Works good on Linux, using Steam....
GOG, please acquire this for Linux; it's been years since it was released.
Is it really that expensive to extend the license?
Its on sale on Steam again, so I went looking if I could get it DRM free instead. Of course GOG simply "forgot" to ever release either for non-Windows platforms.
Its such a shame when you have to choose between ethical DRM free games and how Valve actually cares about Linux support.
Pleeeeease :(
OK...it was 3 years ago, but still...
Last heard in 2008 (10 years ago):
www.gog.com/forum/general/release_metro_last_light_redux_cc473/post93/?staff=yes
Another season sale where I would have bought the games, had they been available for Linux... what a shame.
+1
Throwing in my 1+.
I'd like to have it running on linux from GOG too, but Deepsilver is not the one to adress: www.gog.com/forum/general/release_metro_last_light_redux_cc473/post93
Another +1 here - actually bought this (on GOG) because I noted Linux support on steam - didn't realise until after there is no Linux client here, doh. :(
Ain't gonna buy on Steam to get Linux version.
Release it here. Or give keys to redeem.
No linux version?! Please Deepsilver, DRM Free is the way it's supposed to be.
I really need this sh*t... even more knowing it has GNU/Linux version in Steam!!! :_(
The Metro games on Linux would be pretty sweet. Be sure to let Deep Silver know you'd like it on GOG, too:
www.deepsilver.com/en/contact/
Yes, same her would have bought Metro already if the Linux Version was included.
Watching another sale go buy, a single tear rolls down tux's cheek...
Half a year passed, its still not there. GOG, please release it as-is or in closed beta.
10€ for both.. but i need the linux version :°°°(
So now I ended up either having to use Windows DRM free or Linux with DRM, because I happen to own both games on both platforms. This is really silly. Bring on the Linux support!
Would really appreciate the Linux ports being available here...Surely it won't be too hard to obtain the licensing to add them to GoG?
wtf, I bought this, where is Linux binary?!!
Yeah it is a little bit weird that the publisher keeps an thumb on the DRM-free Linux and MacOS version. Hopefully this will change in the near future.
Therefore it is important to support this request here. This will give GOG a good argument in the discussion with the publisher ;-)
On sale again. I really wish I could play it.
@malevolo
Steam already has an OS-agnostic pseudo-monopoly of the digital distribution market. Slamming GoG for targeting the most saturated OSes is frankly stupid and does nothing to change that - in fact it might have the opposite effect and paint us all with the broad brush of entitlement. It is also ignorant to pretend that GoG does not support Linux. They were one of, if not the first distribution platforms to support it.
@GameOver9000
I will definitely send them a request, I hope it yields something tangible.
I emailed GOG about this: "Unfortunately we weren't able to acquire the DRM-free builds for Linux and MacOSX"
So I've emailed Deep Silver (info@deepsilver.de) and 4A games (info@4a-games.com) to request DRM Linux builds on GOG. If anyone is interested, I'd recommend contacting them too so that they get the message.
They are on Steam since a loooooong time, so I do not understand why aren't here... it's a real pitty, because I would prefer to buy DRM-free games, but GoG is pretty slow releasing games (or GOG Galaxy) for Linux users... I would love to buy games on GoG, but I already have 230 Linux games on Steam, and each game I buy there is a game that I won't buy here... at least without a huge discount, which is not profitable for GoG...
If GoG wants to get money from linux market, they should begin to treat us like at least as a Mac users... if not, for the time linux will be consolidated as a gaming platform, it will be too late and Steam will have eaten all the market...
