Set Launch Options / Command Line Arguments for games completed
That would be very useful, I currently start my GOG games via the Steam client.
Especially for Scummvm and DOSbox this would be very useful.
Since I often use customized screen settings, especially for old games I have very extensive start parameters.
Dosbox Example:
"F:\GOG Games\The Savage Empire\DOSBOX\DOSBox.exe"
Startoption: -conf "..\dosboxSAVAGE.conf" -conf "..\dosboxSAVAGE_single.conf" -noconsole -c "exit"
Jeez guys. WTH... Can't run Return to Castle Wolfenstein without adding command prompt to open console and adjust settings. Otherwise frame rate is garbage. Steam version wouldn't have had this problem. Badly needed feature. Needs to get squared away asap
GO HERE TO VOTE FOR THIS FEATURE IN THE NEW GALAXY 2.0: www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/commandline_arguments
For confused people: THIS TICKET was implemented in 2017 in the 1.0 client. The request here is for that... I am not sure GOG notices us requesting it in this old place since it is marked as completed!
Shame this STILL isn't in on the launcher, what the heck...
Looking for this option in the new 2.0 client. I can't find it either. Definitely needed for certain titles.
Definitely needs to be added to the V2 client. Would make for a great and convenient addition.
This needs to be part of Galaxy 2.0, especially if 2.0 is going to completely replace 1.x in the future.
+1 add this to Galaxy 2.0 please :)
Please add this for galaxy 2
Everyone is saying they added this but how do you do it ?
OMG they freaking did it! YEEEEEAY!
Thx - released with Galaxy 1.2.24 :-)
Oh, so this feature has been requested two years ago, at least?
I'm going to try the work around with the info or bat file.
This would make Galaxy much better! In my case I play on a laptop with Nvidia optimus graphics which has issues with diagonal screen tearing when playing certain games. What I do to prevent this issue is to add "-window-mode exclusive" to the target section of a shortcut. I have to start the game from the shortcut however, which kind of makes Galaxy obsolete to me...
Until GoG GETS TO IT (right, guys? RIGHT?) here's what you can do to add parameters yourself: In the game folder, there's (as of v1.2.23) a .INFO file. Open with plain text editor. Find the part where the game .EXE is listed. Copy a whole line and edit it to say "arguments": "", and that should do it. Important: the tracing comma and space, if it's not the last line within that block. If it is, remove the comma and space.
you know you can just right click the shortcut and add the command to the end of the target for example to run mm6 in a window "G:\Games\Might and Magic 6\MM6.exe" -window
Plus a button to revert to defaults :-)
con't: (without having to alter .ini files)
PLEASE add this! Your competition has it; so should you I'd really like to play Quake in the resolution *I* want to.
This feature is a must. I am unable to run Arcanum through Galaxy since I need to use -doublebuffer and -no3d command line options for it to work correctly.
This, this, this! Top priority feature for me that Galaxy badly needs. Can't really use all the features of modded version of Quake without it.
Please add this option, I need to run Pillars of Ethernity and Tyranny with -opengl
We need this so bad!
This, a million times this. Other than this crucial feature, Galaxy is perfect and does everything I want it to do.
We need this! I can use the shortcuts meanwhile, but I'd like to use it via Galaxy too.
2 years from original post and 611 votes and still NOTHING.
What an attitude.
Yes, please! Currently struggling to get Giants Citizen Kabuto to run fullscreen natively from GOG launcher. I like to use launchers!
This option is need by some Unity games to enable Exclusive Fullscreen, to let you to select higher resolution (downsampling).
SimCity 4 needs command line arguments for widescreen resolutions. So, this is necessary
Please, so much this! It's about the only thing Steam does right!
Please add this. It's needed for MANY games.
Yes please.
I have a The Longest Journey problem of this kind... It needs administrative privileges. When I run it through link or exe, it works perfectly. Through the old GoG galaxy it worked when I have set it through Windows 10 and run it directly through Galaxy. In te latest Galaxy won't run...
Yes please. Sometimes mods require this (STALKER SOC for example) and launching from the Galaxy client can cause problems.
Giving my vote for this one. Definitely need it.
Very seconded! I need this constantly for old stuff.
While it is currently undocumented and probably subject to change as Galaxy evolves its development, you can hand-edit the goggame*.info files that come with each game that is currently Galaxy-aware and you can hand edit the various options for launching the games. Note that these are JSON configuration data files and have a very strict syntax with no tolerance for errors. Even one typo will cause the json parser to reject the file and Galaxy to redownload the stock GOG file, so make backups before editing or changing the files. You'll have to experiment on your own for now by looking at various default files supplied by GOG to try to understand all of the configuration options. Read the wikipedia page on JSON file format/syntax etc. for information about that, and you can use jsonlint.com to validate your changes to ensure there are no errors. Not a perfect solution, but it allows someone to hack around for now and make their own custom solutions. Just make extra backups of the .info files you create outside of the game's dir otherwise Galaxy may periodically blow them away during game updates and whatnot and you don't want to lose your customizations.
It would be nice if Galaxy provided the ability to fully customize the command line, not just the arguments. In some case I need to run tools like DxWnd first in order for the game to run. It would be great if I could customize all this from GOG Galaxy.
This is essential if you want to launch certain games through the gog client.
Yes, including the ability to launch a game as administrator if possible. For example, Neverwinter crashes unless launched as administrator.
Please add this option directly into GOG Galaxy for each game like steam.
Totally necessary!!
can't you do that manually? or galaxy wouldn't use that .exe?
Very important. Some games require setting launch options to function properly.
Very much needed. I can't start Witcher 1 on my laptop that has switchable graphics because it's telling me "Minimum system requirements not met", and the official shitty solution is to use command line switch -dontForceMinReqs, so I can't even run this game from Galaxy
Pretty much neccesary for any tweaks
Yes please!
