vagore The ability to have a chat session overlay built into the galaxy games. Allowing the user to not have to ALT+TAB to go back and forth between chat and game. It would be nice to have it integrated similar to steams SHIFT+TAB feature.

e-ahmet For supported games? Why doesn't it work for all games like on Steam?
loghos For me the overlay makes witcher 3 unplayable. The game simply takes a lot of time to react to controls when the overlay is on, my poor Geralt gets killed three times before he knows that I want him to dodge or renew his Quen... I really dunno why it works that way, the performance without overlay is excellent on uber settings, and the game works with all the fancy details and fluently, wiith no glitches with an overlay on, but it simpy does not care that I want to change a direction of movement, or hit somebody or do whatever until all matter is stale, and legendary White Wolf is very dead in some ugly, stinkin' place :(

skeletonbow The overlay is currently only available in select games, and must be manually enabled via a Galaxy setting for those games that support it. It is activated with SHIFT+TAB when enabled. The hotkey is not configurable yet but most likely will be in the future some time. They've said a future version of the client will have the overlay work with as many games as possible. No mention yet of a web browser function inside the overlay, but Galaxy client is based on the Chromium Embedded Framework so it would be possible for them to potentially include a limited browser function in the overlay like Steam has at some point I imagine.
JKeift Please, please include an internet browser in the overlay. It's a great way to look for things like walkthroughs, tips, etc., without alt+tabbing out of games.

Duempelhuber When I add a game (ie. Witcher 3) to Steam and press SHIFT+TAB it opens Steam overlay + GOG overlay. Both opens, both cloese but Steam Overlay always wins. We should be able to change the hotkey.
Leopud45 Is the Gog game overlay created yet because I cant seem to SHIFT+TAB to open it.
cryotek Is there any way to disable the GOG overlay? It is buggy when used with the Steam overlay. I could care less about this feature, all my friends are on Steam.
TippyTipster So, I got the in-game overlay working. The only way I've gotten it to show up is to launch the Galaxy Client through steam, and then boot up the game. Then you can hit shift+tab and the overlay will show! It lists the achievements for the current game you're playing (at least in Witcher 3), your friend's list, and a chat window for the selected friend.

doctorfrog How about a Galaxy Overlay that has a free browser like Steam does? There's not really any competing application that does this right now. And if you could add non-GOG games to Galaxy, you'd have an application that could add an overlay browser to any game.
Northensnow What's the point in asking for a feature that is already planned? You can even see the option in the client itself. Wouldn't it be more constructive to ask for features that AREN'T planned?

TheGreatTave @Ravulet Yeah I'm on 1.0.3.985 I guess I need to just download the newest one from GOG.com, any idea how big the client is? I'm not seeing a way to update on this build :(
Ravulet @TheGreatThave It's in settings, in the "Features (coming soon)" section. The last update is 1.0.5.11.
TheGreatTave Where do you see the overlay option? I'm not seeing anything. I think my client needs to update but isn't, any way to manually update?

ytsejam91 This is odd, the latest version of galaxy now has the overlay option available for selecting (not greyed out like the rest of them), but nothing suggests that the feature is actually there.

dsheemstra They said an Overlay was coming when they first announced Galaxy. The real question is when. I'd be surprised if they didn't have it before leaving Beta, so we'll probably get one sooner or later.
KeyperOS +1 for the browser. Whenever I played a big game I would constantly need to alt+tab to my notes or a browser page. An overlay with a built-in browser works so much better since it never takes the game out of focus. No need to reload, no danger of a crash.
African_wildlife Firefox-based browser would be the best solution.
CluelessGorilla I came in to post this for Galaxy feedback as well, then searched and saw this topic. I have had trouble using the SHIFT-TAB overlay feature on Steam with many older games or non-Steam games. If Galaxy used this feature with the GOG games, it would give me good reason to use this launcher, since this feature is important.
aaron_940 Seems like a no-brainer. With every other client offering a feature like this (Steam, Origin, Uplay, etc.), I would be surprised if they didn't add this at some point.

RPINerd An overlay + cloud saves would turn Galaxy into my "daily driver" overnight! I am so overjoyed to see a serious and more importantly reputable (looking at you Uplay) competitor to Steam
URJoking All great points! I myself use Steam for most social functions concerning Witcher 3 at present, despite my game being here on GOG Galaxy! This is in large part due to Steams beautifully simple discussions notification icon. I therefore add my wish for a separate 'threads/posts responded to' icon.
Can we maybe condense these wishes to ;
GOG in game function, hot keyed, thereby allowing 'in game' social notification.
GOG in game browser link function, preferably Chrome.
Distinct 'threads/posts responded to' icon.

I would like it even more if it used an open protocol, like XMPP for example.
This way I could use a messenger like Pidgin or an android App to keep in touch with my friends without the need of GoG Client. Let alone that it could be compatible with Google Hangouts.

ytsejam91 GOG seems to be planning a featire like this, though I wonder how it'll work with older games, which are already hard to get running on some hw/sw configurations. I hope Galaxy will have an option to turn the overlay on/off for each game (instead of a global switch)

rocker10 As per the other comments, the overlay would allow you to chat. At the moment a message comes in but nothing lets you know while in game. Also, being able to pop open the great pdf manuals while in game would be useful via overlay. Really enjoying Galaxy so far guys, great work. These small additions would make it even better. As far as optional overlay, maybe a check box in settings would work.
osmyrn This is one of the reasons I actually use steam - being able to quickly pop into the overlay to check the time, achievements or check something online in a browser is very useful.
Ikarugamesh It would be nice. Also, an internet browser integrated in the overlay would be appreciated (just don't make it run under IE's engine, please).
Also, the overlay should be totally optional, for those who don't want it.
Nesoo Needs a browser, too. I like to look up guides while playing a game. Being able to hit a key combo and have it pop up over the game with out having to alt-tab out is really nice, especially on more graphically intensive games which tend to bug out when you alt-tab.
