Just installed the German version of Settler 2.

Problem 1: The intro doesn't play at all. The first thing you see in the DOS screen is an error message related to that:
"Illegal Command: VIDEO\SMCKPLY" - the entire video folder is missing!

Problem 2: If you try to launch the game after the first time DOSbox closes down just after throwing our that error message and some hardware diagnostics.

No such problems with teh English version. Can anyone confirm these problems?

The German intro video issue in Settlers 2 Gold is now fixed, thanks to you :D Please re-download the German installer labelled: setup_settlers2_gold_german_2.1.0.17.exe

Don't want to get on your nerves but I've just found another problem:

Looks like someone has to take a close look at the files, something must be wrong there. Sorry for not finding out earlier.
For that one I recommend sending in a Support ticket, please :) We'll need all of your system info via the DxDiag report :)
