When I originally loaded the game my options were to launch or exit. I chose launch. Played some and then exited the game through menu command.

Since then I've been unsuccessful at restarting the game unless I reload the setup file and get the "Launch" icon. I go through hoops with DosBox but to no avail. I have no quick launch icon or start menu game start options. I used to use DosBox about a thousand years ago so I do have a rusty-ness. However, I can find no friendly way to restart the game.

I've reloaded the setup three times and still I have the same group of icons to choose from in my files. Any help would be great. Perhaps I just need to get the path right in Dos.

Sounds like you should uninstall & reinstall the game. Make sure to install it somewhere besides "Program Files".

I've tried the re-install several times.

The game isn't under Program Files. It's on my F: drive under GOG games\The Last Express.
