Does this game work well with a mouse and keyboard? Or is the control much better with a gamepad?

If I buy a gamepad, what is recommended for games like this?

I use the Xbox 360 controller and the game plays just fine :)
So can you tell me if it is possible to use WSAD to move and the mouse to aim?

I just fired up the game and I used WASD to move and aim while firing with the spacebar.

To clarify:

The game was originally designed and balanced for just 8-way movement (you shoot in the direction you walk) anyway so the wasd+mouse is not needed to play the game.
This new "remastered" edition of Chaos Engine comes with an optional dual stick control method, however it seems only gamepads can utilize this feature for the time being - as oddly overlooked it appears to be, the player cannot substitute for the right analog stick of a pad with the mouse.

The game is playable fine with WASD + any key you want to fire the gun, but I too am looking forward to seeing wasd+mouse enabled with a patch (or failing that, returning home from vacation so I can play with a dual stick pad :) ).
Too bad. I stopped playing Hammerwatch because of the clumsy keyboard control and I had hoped this game does it better. Well, have to stick with one of the many free flash shooter out there.
