Instgtr: Has anyone figured out what the 6 "Shapes" are that appear on screen when you right click the mouse??? I don't know if the video game versions get the same thing - It's no "problem", I'd Just like to know if they're for anything useful???
If your "secondary weapon" function is still assigned to your right mouse button (M2) and if you have a "personal shield" installed on your multitool, then those glowing hexagonal shapes you see are your personal shield.
I had the same WTF? response the first time I activated it, as well. I've never actually used it in a melee situation with the sentinels. I've managed to work up to holding my own against a second wave of Alert Level 5 sentinels by attacking, not defending. Would have gone to a third wave -- I was on a roll -- but a radioactive supercell storm rolled in and I just didn't want to have to deal with both at the same time.
On this subject, I
strongly recommend looking at your key bindings for the secondary weapon. Many, many people have accidentally "killed" themselves in-game by launching a grenade with an inadvertent extra RMB click when canceling out of a menu. Me, too.
I moved the secondary fire back to the middle mouse button (M3). The "pick up" function is mapped to M3 by default, so to avoid further accidents I moved that to "T" (kind of a flat up-arrow), and then moved the torch/flashlight over to "L." No more accidental explosions.
