I tested the recent Beta Branch of GoG Galaxy with the effect that my cloud saves were not synced for No Man`s Sky. So I had to reinstall GoG Galaxy. Today a regular update for GoG Galaxy was released. Did anyone of you experiance sync problems?!

Thanks for sharing your insights!

Oh, even better.

I (foolishly) accepted the recent update to the GOG client. Since I do not use the cloud backup feature, prefering to keep my own off-line backups, I made sure to check that the cloud save option was not selected.

Imagine my delight when I exited the game and -- guess what? -- it jumped in and started a file sync.

I lost at least half an hour of game time in the current save. It dumped a ton of old cache files in the game directory. God only knows what else it f'ed up.

I am beyond pissed.

Sorry to hear this... I chose to -> "install later" which lead to an auto update on the next start of GoG Galaxy -> I do no know if it consoles you to hear that the update would have installed anyhow ;-(

At least the cloud save seems to work as intended, although this is very unfortunate for you...

Thanks, I've recovered my cool now. Still frustrating, though.

To work it off I tweaked some sentinels to start a battle. Got through all of the waves until I knocked out the final walker. Feel better. ;-)

I've stopped using the cloud saves. Faster startup and shutdown. Now I make occasional backups to a flash drive.

If you're still having problems with backups being too large, I *think* that you can delete the cache directory and allow the game to recreate it. Mine has grown to 384 MB; I should probably take my own advice and let it be regenerated (there are files in it from 2016!). Make an offline backup of the whole C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser directory first, just in case.
