timotaka: I know who Phil Fish is, and that a fair number of people think he is an ass. But why does the mask turn everything into French? The best explanation I can come up with is that French = pretentious artsyness, but to my knowledge Phil Fish has never claimed his games are some kind of profound statement about anything.

SCPM: I assumed it had to do with the fact that Phil Fish is French Canadian. His real last name is Poisson, which is French for Fish. Some of the other masks are named after other indie developers, so I think it's all just a kind of inside-gag between them.
