Checking for updates seems to be frozen?

Does Gog Galaxy need to contact Facebook servers for some reason? I updated my hosts file to completely block those terrorist-supporters.

Update: After reinstall checking work, but still many appcrashes in event viewer.

Had the same just now. Tried to do the client auto update three times and failed. This is the error from the web installer.

I got it to work after dwnld of the installer.. Nothings working right though so it's still borked!

Remove all Visual C++ that you have and than install only supported versions, both 32 & 64 bit (reboot if requested)

I just had the update fail with the same message, then Galaxy rebooted itself and worked fine with the update seemingly applied...
