Crosmando: AMD are going bankrupt, so no surprise they are selling most of the hardware inside the new consoles, they are probably selling it for a tiny slither of a profit just to get the contract.
And you know that means, no competition, and no competition means Nvidia has a monopoly, and a monopoly means more shitty, expensive, products thus leading to stagnation :(

gooberking: but it's probably a mixed bag for Sony and MS.
Don't think so. They are making things easier for themselves too... instead of having to maintain packages for PowerPC, ARM and x86, now they have to maintain only for ARM and x86.

The last thing Nvidia wants to is for AMD to go under, because that would mean heavy scrutiny from government regulators. Like how when Apple was going under in the 90's and the US government turned up the heat on Microsoft for turning into a monopoly, MS eventually loaned Apple money to keep them going, and of course the rest is history. Wouldn't be surprised if Intel did the same just to keep their weak (and only) competitor in the field.
It must be all that physx

Oh, not at all. Intel already sells more GPUs than both NVidia and AMD combined. Remember, all Intel CPUs also come with GPUs.

And, NVidia cannot let themselves to stagnate again, like a few times in the past when they were selling old GPUs rebranded as new. Intel is really catching up the mid-range market with the new Haswell architecture... I'd argue that they already own the low-end market since no reasonable manufacturer will use a dedicated GPU in a low-end machine.

Give it a few more years, and Intel may just overtake the mid-range market fully, leaving only the high-end market for NVidia (lets face it, their most expensive GPUs aren't really their best selling ones).

Rohan15: If I remember correctly, those were dev kits.

Cormoran: The only confirmations I've seen said it was on a PC. I wouldn't mind seeing a link if you have something that says otherwise.

Sorry if i wasn't clear. I wasn't talking about E3, I was talking about the earlier PS4 announcement.

Elmofongo: You know, if all of the games were running on PCs than mabye this is confirmation that Metal Gear Solid 5 will arrive on PCs :D
I want more than MGS5 on PC.
Bring the REST of the series here to the PC - I want re-releases of those here already and those that are missing!
So does this confirm PC ports of at least the new Killer Instinct game? ;)

BJWanlund: So does this confirm PC ports of at least the new Killer Instinct game? ;)
It certainly makes porting easier. The rest depends on devs' / publishers' will.

I wouldn't be too optimistic about KI, though. It's made by one of MS's own studios and they haven't even ported their main exclusive franchise, Halo, to PC.

Except for the first two games?

Exactly, they must not think it's worth it to do it anymore.
avatar
keeveek: The funny thing is, they used a more powerful GPU than installed in XBone.

So, you may say, some games previewed on E3 may look worse on the console afterwards.
I have to im really sorry.....
Alien: CM anyone?

i just.. i mean MS sorta deserve it but they have had some terrible luck lately. but you do reap what you sow.
now if we can all wait a solid 6 months after launch to buy the damn thing they might actually listen to us gamers that they totally messed up and cant do what they thing is right then fudge stats to back up their ideas.

my honest reaction as to why they refused to port? Greed pure and simple.
