I really think it's your auto-defense mechanism that sees it this way. I like what I like and don't like what I don't like. I don't put an incredible amount of thought into it beyond that. I played Uncharted on a friend's PS3 and thought it had too many cutscenes, the climbing was too easy and analog aiming tends to annoy me, that's all. People have different tastes and priorities.

I grew up on NES and SNES, so I love a lost of games on those systems (though a lot of them I wouldn't play today, like Final Fantasy VI). If you want a list of more modern console exclusives I have played and liked a lot let me throw some out there...

All I can think of right now. I haven't really played a lot of modern console games because I don't own one. Getting a PS3 and eventually a PS4 is something in the back of my mind, but I never get around to it. Money, time, take your pick. I assume I would like the Killzone games if I could stomach the aiming... I assume I would like the Halo and Gears of War sequels, though I wouldn't support Microsoft to try them. Heavy Rain looked interesting. The Sly, Ratchet and Jak sequels maybe. I love the HD collections Sony has been doing, would buy all those up if I had the system.

I honestly call it like I see it, with everything on here from games to debates to GOG policies.

Ok, so which game is a classic for you? Ocarina of Time is still considered by many gamers and even the press as the best game ever. The first Soul Calibur is still the fighting game with the best score in reviews. Mario Galaxy is the highest scoring game of all times in Gamerankings. Why aren't these game classics?

But there is absolutely no way to measure how many people experienced a game. There simply is no way. The most objective quantum we could come up with is sales. There are many exclusive games that sell a lot more copies than multiplatform titles, so your argument really doesn't make sense.

Classic is an ambiguous terms but at least we aren't screaming at each other about it. :P One man's classic is another man's crap and then we get into legacy versus how well it's aged versus fun or not fun. IMO Pong is a classic. That being said, it looked terrible was boring as snot and not only did it not age well, it died. Why is it classic? Without it are we in this forum right now?

I think Ultima is FOR SURE FOR SURE FOR SURE a classic although I can't stand playing it and as far as aging goes, my grandma Helen has held up better and she's been in a casket for the past twelve years. So why classic? Same reason as Pong. Look at all the truly great stuff that were born out of it. That unfortunately can't be said of my grandmother. My mother is an angel by my brother and I are assholes.

I have never tried them so I can't call them classics. That is why. I have seen Citizen Kane. I have played Eye of the beholder. I have seen Salvador Dalis The Persistence of Memory. I have read Tolkiens Lord of the Rings. All classics and known by the majority. If its only known by a minority of the worlds population it can't be a great classic. At best a cult classic for fans. I might be in the minority for Mario Galaxy I don't know how many have played it but I do know of it.

I like cutscenes when used sparingly or between levels. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a good example of perfect cutscene use for me.

Largely though I want to play video games, not watch them. Too many modern games emulate Hollywood instead of focusing on good gameplay. Too many games think the way you tell a story in games is to show it, when actually what makes game stories amazing is you can LIVE them, DISCOVER them, INTERACT with them. Uncharted is a movie with a game in it. That interests me far, far less.

What majority? I am absolutely certain that the majority of people have never heard of Eye of the Beholder, and I would be surprised if a majority of modern gamers have.

From what I've seen of The Last of Us it seems fairly similar to Uncharted in the sense that it has many movie elements in it. It's still quite interesting for what it is, and I like what I've seen so far. Although it might have helped that I found the guy doing the commentary to be hilarious.

So... whom has already played the game yet ? :D

I doubt it. Did all those ports (GC, PC, XBOX360, PS3) get it wrong? So wrong that you reduce a score from 90% to a mere 50% while at the same time saying that it wasn't that great of a game in the first place?

As for Ultima, it is an interesting case of a classic. It is wildly influential, but its interface is very archaic indeed. Not a particularly user-friendly game, but it's still in demand. Maybe not as much as other Ultima games, but it (alongside the 2nd and 3rd Ultima) is still the 77th best-selling game on GOG.com.

If you think that about Uncharted then you better never, ever, get anywhere near Heavy Rain ;)

I don't understand what you mean by this comment. Heavy Rain most definitely lets you interact with the game. Your choices in game have direct consequences in the game.

Yes there was two or three scenes were failing the QTEs had actually any impact and could even get one of your character killed... but I take ME3 and its crappy lousy over that any time.

I was considering buying a PS3 today because of that game.
