Elenarie: Another day, another stupid post by PC MASTER RACE elitist jerks.
You do notice that you were the first to mention the PC here, right? Crosmando didn't say anything about the PC being better in his post. He just complained about a bad console game and a bad game design decision. You chose to be offended by this for some reason. Or you just desperately sought a reason to complain about elitists and thereby feel superiour yourself (quite elitist of you, isn't it?).

But by complaining about the PC community or by dissing other games you won't change the fact that a bad game design is a bad game design. And a game that doesn't actually let me play IS bad game design. No matter if it is written for the console or the PC or your moms phone. When player interaction becomes unnecessary, the 'game' ceases to be a game at all and becomes just a movie, nothing more.

You can get the same experience by watching Gladiator while holding a controller in your hand to pretend that you are the one controlling Russel Crowe.
Cinematic Death Sequences? - check
Graphics? - more realistic than Ryse
Animations? - better than Ryse (actual actors performing live)
Acting? - better than Ryse (even Russel Crowe can out-act most computer generated sprites)
Interactivity - about the same as for Ryse (none, apart from pretending)
So all in all Gladiator is a better game than Ryse - which conversely shows that Ryse isn't a game at all.
I don't know; in a sense, Guitar Hero is just a bunch of quick time events. It's all in the execution.
At which point to we all start throwing our own feces at each other?

riiiiiiiiight..... I think these last two posts by you summs up the whole thing....

A little advice for you for future reference. If you really think that it is "anachronistic (?) to constantly discuss nothing but console/multiplat games on GOG boards" and that "coming to GOG to talk about the most mainstream-of-mainstream multiplat games seems like going to North Korea, putting up a placard and having a one-man protest chanting that capitalism is superior to socialism" - then dont start any new threads about it. Problem solved.

Nintendo should be happy about this. They have a patent on games playing themselves.

Wait for this game to come out and sue Microsoft.

RayRay13000: Kotaku is news? This is news to me.
Same quality of news as Fox News, from what I hear.

Occasionally I see people quoting The Onion as real news, so it's not like basing a thread on this misleading bit of Kotaku "news" is the worst I've seen.
avatar
Licurg: This isn't even a game, it's an interactive movie !
avatar
Elenarie: So freaking what? Developers cannot experiment and put something different out there?

First people cry that every other game is a copy of every other FPS game, then when some dev moves a bit further from that and are trying to experiment with new things, they get bashed because they are trying to do something different.
Experimenting is one thing. Making a movie and advertising it as a game is another thing.

avatar
Licurg: That's not real gaming
avatar
Elenarie: Wow, oh boy, we have real gaming and a non-real gaming now?

:D
avatar
Barefoot_Monkey: Where did that come from?
avatar
Elenarie: Right from there.
avatar
Crosmando: games designed to be played well back from the TV on a couch by only pushing a button every now and again
avatar
Elenarie: What is wrong with providing that experience to the people that like that experience?

Does every programming code has to be reacted at with 350+ APM like in StarCraft 2's GSL Code S for it to be considered a game nowadays?
We do have real gaming and non real gaming. For example, when I take a shit, I'm not gaming. When I'm playing UNEPIC, I'm gaming. When I'm watching RT news or Netflix, I'm not gaming. When I'm playing Rising Storm, I'm gaming.

avatar
Licurg: Yes, we do. This garbage is NOT real gaming, it's not any kind of gaming, it's farmville with a big budget, nothing else.
avatar
Elenarie: 95% of the garbage here on GOG is not real gaming either.
Why? Because GOG isn't Netflix? I think due to some kind of recent brain damage or drugs, you fail to see that games are supposed to be played and movies are supposed to be watched. Yeah, I know I'm being insulting but that is what you get for calling 95% of GOGs "garbage" and "not real gaming". You have invoked the wrath of the monkey. Don't let my avatar fool you. I ain't no easy win.

Game - a competitive activity involving skill, chance, or endurance on the part of two or more persons who play according to a set of rules, usually for their own amusement or for that of spectators.

Movie - a sequence of consecutive pictures of objects photographed in motion by a specially designed camera (motion-picture camera) and thrown on a screen by a projector (motion-picture projector) in such rapid succession as to give the illusion of natural movement.

After reading through this entertaining thread, I then went back and actually watched the video.

All that camera movement was annoying.

And yeah, personally, having a stupid button icon pop up every time it's time to finish someone off seems quite lame. Especially if, when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter which button you press or if you even press one at all.

To me, this is one unfortunate path since nobody wants to print (or read, I guess) manuals anymore. "Let's constantly remind the player what they're supposed to do here!"

Like, in GTA IV, I get it - when I'm going to pick someone up, I need to stop near them and honk the horn. Do I need to constantly be told that throughout the game? Every single time?
I hear you recover some health and get a different animation if you press the buttons.

/edit: was trying to find the source and turns out it was this thread. ha! :D

Sorry, I don't go and consider myself above other people, opposite to the "classiness" that this community seems to be proud of. ;)

"...Join the #PCmasterRace, maybe? ;-)"

Officially posted by GOG on Twitter. /facepalm

Offended, by what? /confused I am not offended at all by anything that has been posted here, you can be sure of that.

No fooling - I get enough of that from being married.

Crosmando: ..
There is actually discussion about games sold on GOG as well. It's in game-specific boards. If you don't like general stuff discussed on ... you know ... general subforum, I suggest you butt out and only watch those game-specific boards. Also you are definitely one of the reasons why this place has lost classiness, I have never seen anyone getting attacked for liking new games back in 2008. People actually discussed them. Politely. That's something you seem to be incapable of.
