Andy_Panthro: Saw the mid-credits extra, now I just need someone with a bit of comics knowledge to interpret it.

Sorry, but I can't help but say that maybe you should warn people about possible spoilers, or keep it to PMs... :)

Yeah, that's the ticket.
... Or was it Phones?

Anyway, people reading spoilers, go watch the movie. Scarlett Johansson is waiting for you!
It's getting great reviews. I stayed home sick today but almost drug my ass from the house to watch it anyway, then I saw it was 2 hours 23 minutes long, since that never counts the trailers I figured I didn't have the time.
Just saw it tonight. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Theatre here had a 10-minute break after about an hour. I felt the two "halves" were very different. First half had a lot of character development, dialogue and some witty lines and jokes here and there (If you're a Joss Whedon fan, you know what to expect). The best part of the movie in my opinion. The second half had a lot more action. It definitely still had some great moments but overall I thought it had more weak points as well.

All in all, it's not an absolute cinematic masterpiece, but if you like the idea of a superhero movie, if you like the avengers of if you like Joss Whedon, this movie definitely delivers.

I hear Whedon really pulled off the group dynamics (Movie Bob if you care), I guess this doesn't surprise me, he fucking nailed Firefly group dynamics.

It's funny, you wouldn't think it would be that hard, but I guess it is. Good movie though, you should definitely see it. Puts the other recent superhero movies including its direct precursors to absolute shame.

Apparently group dynamics in film is serious voodoo, no one really nails it. Films that involve group focus on a very few characters and make all the rest secondary or tertiary characters.

I fully intend to see it, I do have other obligations this weekend, though. I doubt I will get a chance until next week sometime.

Oh, yes, for sure. All the superheroes acted true to their character and the interaction between them was wonderful to watch.

(and I LOVE firefly ;) )

Hence my earlier references to other superhero ensemble movies. (Though I'll give SimonG many of his points on Watchmen.) IMHO, I don't think any one's done good group dynamics and cohesiveness on a superhero movie before. With Avengers, you get an excellent feel for the idea that they really need each other, and on top of that, there's the witty lines and great chemistry that Whedon's known for in his writing.
I've seen this movie yesterday.

Well, It wasn't bad, but it's clearly overhyped.. The story is one of the dumbest I've ever heard of. Loki decided to take over the earth with some aliens on flying scooters? Criminal mastermind...

But it was quite funny and entertaining, and the best comics adaptation since Spiderman 1 & 2 (yes) , so I would give it 8 out of 10.
