Gexecuter: Yeah but i was the one who sent the story to shacknews and got it published it, maybe a free gog for both us is in order ;)

acare84: The Witcher on Steam also is not working properly (videos are not watchable, you see only black screen and sounds). Can you send this Shacknews too. I am really serious. :)

Have you tried the fixed that someone suggested in this steam forum thread?
Hey that is me. :P I know manual patch is solving the problem? But hey this is Steam version why do I need to manually update the game? And as I said vanilla version is not working properly.

KingofGnG: Oh, how pathetic are you. I'm lost interest in beating you, you really don't give satisfactions and above all I finally came to the conclusion that your mediocre insult isnt worth a single second more of my precious time. You really fight worse than a milk cow, how miserable....

Really? You LIKE causing fights online? Are you really that bored you like to bait people so you can bite heads off and smack talk? Go die in a gutter. Seriously. How pathetic are you. And that's the second time you've used the milk cow insult.
props to KingofGNG this is some of the funniest stuff I have read in a while.
Also, the term milf is derogatory, exploiting her children? c'mon.
anyway, I do choose to use steam, mostly because I didn't have a choice in the beginning and now I like to use it to update people on what games I own so we can play multiplayer or something.
Anyway, yeah Mike, KingOfGnG in my opinion is one helluva troll, my personal favorite tbh. He's always cranky, he never slips. I don't think he's had a single positive post in his whole lifetime here at GOG.com.
Anyway, I respect him, maybe I don't take him seriously, but it's always interesting to see what he has to say, he almost never makes "yup." posts.

drmlessgames: No, I meant Namur could gift me one, since I originally mentioned the steam/earth 2160 problem thing. : )

Very funny guys :)
But that would be kind of a bribery after the fact, and that does sound terrible doesn't it?
For now you'll have to make due with the +1.
Fair enough ?
But all joking aside, i really liked your attitude Gexecuter. Good Stuff.

His attitude? I didnt get that.
But i suppose the +1 is alright. But, next game steam borks up and they keep selling, the story is all mine. ; )

He's a riot, I gotta admit. I prefer Fungoo as my favorite troll here though. At least he has some constructive trolling. Is that an oxymoron?

All I know is I was able to get Fallout 3 on Steam without any non-Steam DRM, and that's a beautiful thing. Also, no SecuROM on most of EA's catalog there.

I liked the way he saw something wrong and actually did something about it. I meant i really liked his good, positive, active, attitude about the problem.
As for the next game Steam messes up, if it's ok with Gexecuter, the story is all yours :)
Why does everyone keep mentioning DRM, STEAM doesn't use DRM (at least not in the restrictive sense like SecuROM and the likes), although it does sell third party games like Red Alert 3 and GTA4 that come with DRM but this is the developers' decision, VALVe has no say in the matter. Now, if they have known for two months that this game didn't work properly anymore then they should've at least stopped selling the game. But they sell these games through STEAM, it's still the game developers' responsibility to provide support for their games, Not VALVe's.
I've been using STEAM since 2004 and have purchased several games through them, and I haven't had a single complaint. It had some problems when it first came out but STEAM today is a very stable and commendable platform for buying and playing games.

LordGrievous: Why does everyone keep mentioning DRM, STEAM doesn't use DRM

Steam is DRM.
If your internet goes down Steam says "no game for you!"; while Steam can be run in "offline mode" you must actually be online in order to enable it. If Valve bans your account for hacking or whatever you lose access to your purchases. Many games are region-locked to the country of origin, meaning you can't use Steam while overseas or buy a Steam game there and then have it work when you get home. All games are locked into the client and only a handful can be run without it, so if Valve ever removes a game from their service or shuts down entirely you are totally unable to play the games you have legally purchased. In some cases, titles on Steam have stopped working due to a client update, leaving customers totally unable to play until Steam resolves the incompatibility.
Steam is DRM.

Gexecuter: "Some, if not all, of those who have have bought Reality Pump's 2006 PC strategy title Earth 2160 from Valve's digital distribution platform Steam have been unable to play the game since February, according to a Steam Forums thread filled with complaints. "
Full Story
I tipped this story to shacknews after drmlessgames mentioned in another thread that earth 2160 was unplayable on Steam, this made me look in the steam forums and he was right. After a Steam Client update in february Earth 2160 couldn't be played anymore, worse steam kept selling the game even tough you couldn't play it. This is one of the reasons why DRM sucks a lot. Hopefully GOG releases Earth 2160 soon so that people know that this is a problem caused by the Steam client.

That sucks.
I'm still waiting for Rockstar New England to fix Bully: Scholarship on the PC -- Retail and Steam Editions.
I own the Retail Edition, BTW.

a VAC ban will not make you lose your games, just make it so you can't play on a VAC enabled server. And, I've enabled offline mode, while offline, and had full access to most of my games that were already installed just fine. :P
I was one of the original people who complained in that thread about Earth 2160. It was disqusting how long they took to fix the problem, it just seems that after it gets some attention they can be bothered pulling their fingers out and do something instead of focusing on the massive money maker games.
Yes, STEAM does require an internet connection, but compared to the kind of bullshit restrictions that EA uses for DRM, I think we can consider ourselves lucky that STEAM isn't like that.
I didn't say that it doesn't have some restrictions, but compared to other kinds of DRM I think it isn't that bad.

I understand what you're saying and most agree with you. While Steam is DRM, there are worst kinds of DRM.
But this thread was about something different, not DRM related.
They kept a game up for sale for two months when they knew the game was broken and that they had no fix for it at the time.
Also, they pretty much ignored that when their customers pointed out the situation, but the moment it hit the web press, they removed the game from the storefront.
And that's wrong, regardless of the name of the platform: Steam, Impulse, D2D, EADM, GOG, whatever. It's wrong.
If it was an honest mistake, fine, that happens. But it wans't. They received countless support mails about this and kept answering with their typical coy/paste answer.
