acare84: This is not a Steam problem. This is developers problem, they didn't know anything about Steam (update policy; they are thinking Valve must patch their games through Steam but Valve not responsible for this, they must send patch files to Valve to update their games) but they are selling their games on that platform.

I think you've misunderstood - what happened here is that Steam itself got updated, and this update broke the game. Despite the fact that the game was could not be used, Steam did not fix or stop selling it.
I agree that developers in the case of unpatched Steam-games, the developers or publishers should in most case take the blame (except if they've sent the patch to Steam, and Steam hasn't applied it). But in a case where Steam is selling a game that does not work, it's Steam's responsibility to remove the product from sale as soon as possible, and have it fixed before they put it on sale again.
It does not matter where the responsibility for the problem lies (though in this case it's most likely with Steam, as they broke the game), what matters is that Steam can not sell a product that does not work. That would be like an electronic shop selling TVs that can't be turned on - sure, the manufacturer is probably to blame, but the shop can't sell faulty goods.
Frankly I don't understand the wonder: Steam is a DRM system, a closed system, so there are and there will always be problems.
Just don't buy games on Steam, put your pocket where your mouth is and let those nasty DRM bastards (all of them, with no exception) die from starvation. They are killing the PC market, so let us the market die as they want. Then they will be able to scream some utterly crap on "piracy" and other fancy issues....

Are you stupid or something? Let me explain Steam.
Steam has DRM, yes. But is it like Starforce? No. Is it as bad as SecuROM? No. In fact, most games on Steam do NOT have extra DRM like SecuROM tacked up on it. Steam's only copy protection is Internet validation. That's it. You can find Steam GCFs for games all over the warez sites, but you can't play it with Steam (you need a cracked launcher for that). What's with all the hate on Steam DRM? It's not like disc copies are any better. Why don't you go and boycott every single game publisher and don't buy any game, retail or not, ever.
And thanks for telling me the DRM is closed. If it were open DRM, there wouldn't be any DRM, would there?

At least as you are. Maybe less.

I make points and I get stupid comebacks in my face. How is it not like 4chan?

Calm down people. Steam is good but Valve must do something to raise the quality that is for sure.

Thank you! Someone who actually agrees with me!

I think you'll find that most of us agree with you, it's just that we don't tend to insult the person we're talking to in the process. >_>

Hey, no swear words were involved. Therefore it's OK.

Would be nice if you understood what you were explaining before calling others stupid. We've been over this in a number of threads already, but Steam is NOT just internet validation. You need to run Steam - a large application with tons of functionality which you don't really need - to run the Steam-games. Sometimes you need to be online as well (offline-mode doesn't always work, for reasons unknown, and is also not supported by all games - one of them being Earth 2160, in fact). And you have no control over the games you have bought - Steam can take them away from you if you do something Valve don't like, or by mistake for that matter. You may have hundreds of dollars worth of Steam-games that are suddenly rendered completely useless. No other copy protection system is that insane.
Compare this with the online version of SecuRom, which is in practice just an internet activation (yes, some publishers use install limits, but they don't have to).

I'm calm, but I don't like fanboys yelling at me for no reason other than their fanboyness. I've received better insults from a milk cow, anyway XD
How appropriate. You fight like a dairy farmer.
For the record, I'm not a Steam fanboy (they only exist within the small confines of the Steam forums), or else I wouldn't be here. BTW, stonebro, OUCH!
