bansama: It's that rabid Valve fanboyism at work.
Given how Steam-centric the site and the owner seem to be, that's to be expected.

But on the bright side, Portal 2 does look good. Still no bloody Episode 3 though...

Yeah I guess. I might try it out when it's on sale for 50 to 75% off. Exception to that will be whether there's a demo that really makes me want it at full price. And yeah, I get the impression that they simply don't actually know what the fuck they are doing in regards to the Half Life story now. Probably why there hasn't been another episode. So much for their "episodes mean we can push more with far shorter development times!" crap they spouted.

Another thing that annoys me is all these whiny kids bitching about how "crap" the Source engine graphics are these days. Kids these days are never fucking satisfied. Give 'em something that looks like the real world and I bet they'd still bitch about the graphics being crap. Morons.

When Crysis came out I remember a bunch of total graphics whores bitching about low-res textures on the rocks.

I think they've been kicked enough times for that one already. Ep3 should have been released in 2007. It's nearly 2011 now and we don't know for sure if it's in development or not.

The only complaint I think may hold some water is that it does seem to be fairly limited in terms of the map size it can easily handle. Other than that it still holds up very well. The cinematic mod goes some way towards showing how far it can be pushed.

I've got to admit I did notice that and thought it was a bit odd. But that's all. Just odd.

Gordon will be in the next DoTA. : )
I don't fucking get this. My girlfriend gets mad at me because I was doing schoolwork when she called, then she gets mad at me for going out to buy my family dinner since we are tight on cash and I didn't respond to her text, and now she gets mad at me for getting on Facebook to talk to her when I didn't respond to her text message. Talk about self-centered.
So um... I've been unable to reinstall Demigod off of Impulse for close to 3 months now. Every time I attempt to reinstall it I get 1kb every 6-10 seconds down, and then it freezes every 10k and goes to "Retrying". Tech support has been less than helpful given that all of my other apps and games on Impulse install at the cap of my download limit.

Never.
Regional pricing ripoff rears its ugly head again on, of all stores, DotEmu. And it's quite inconsistent too, since some games such as Painkiller and Tropico have this 1 Euro = 1 Dollar bullshit, while other games such as The Guild and Dark Fall have 1 Euro = 2 Dollar conversion rate. So much for competing with GOG...
Games for Windows Live. How could any bullshit be any more broken? It doesn't even have functional mouse support. Even Modern Warfare 2 has that feature. Why is Microsoft the only company that cannot develop functional software for Microsoft Windows?

It has mouse support now... many of the original titles did not though, and I don't think the in-game client updates. It's amazingly daft, you are right.

Lucibel: Ubisoft are doing my head in. Bought Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood from Get Games, exceeded the TAGES 3 installs and now can't access my game. Sent Get Games an email about it 2 weeks ago, where they said they can't reset the unlocks due to publisher policy but would look into giving me a new serial.

Encountered the same situation with Gamersgate and Stalker Call of Pripyat, and they gave me a new serial. It's farcical though...with Gamesplanet, at least they're able to reset unlocks; it seems not so closely connected companies have to issue new serials (out of their own pocket?)

Red_Avatar: Ugh, and they wonder why people pirate ...
Went back and forth with Get Games to try and solve this. They promised a solution but just silence so far, so I went straight to the source and emailed Ubisoft with outlining the situation and my serial number. They reset the activations in no time.
Reviving this old thread simply to say that now Gamestop have well and truly taken control of Impulse there are certainly some changes taking place.

First off, all the non-gaming productivity items, such as Stardocks' Object Dock, have all been removed from Impulse. You now have to purchase those from Stardock.com it seems. Not sure if new purchases of those are still delivered by the Impulse client though...

The new guy manning the Twitter feed, etc., is also far nicer than the old one (Zoomba was it? That guy was an arsehole). He's far more helpful too and is actually showing an interest in the opinions of international customers -- whether that will help with finally getting regional restrictions relaxed on some titles remains to be seen. But at least they are now selling some Steamworks titles (not available on GamersGate) worldwide where Steam and D2D aren't.

They also seem to be following the GG stance now of offering price matching to some extent. They offered a daily deal earlier in the week for $15 only for the publisher to then drop the price of the product to $10 a few days later (making the sale price $5). Pointed that out to them via Twitter and they said they'd compensate any one who purchased it at the daily deal price. That doesn't sound like the sort of thing they'd have done when Stardock were still in control.

The only annoyance so far, which seems to be a result of the changeover, is the way purchases are handled. It no longer seems to be automatic. You make your purchase then have to wait for someone to actually confirm it which can take a good 10 hours =(

Still, compared to the days when Stardock were at the helm, it does seem that GameStop guys are at least trying improve. Let's see if they have the staying power to follow it through...
It's ironic, I would buy BF3, but now I won't because of Orgin.
I hate all these programs you have to install all the fucking time, and that includes steam.
A web browser? Seriously?
