Aside from maybe one other place on the Internet, I do believe there HAS to be some folk here who played Moria back in the day amidst all other classic PC/Amiga fare.

Work is ongoing with it, but at this junction there's a 3 floor demo and an option to purchase the full version for 19 Euro/~$24 USD. Based on that gameplay demo, of which I hope more continue to roll in, I gotta say this is worth it in terms of style and attention to detail alone.

Well, I'm 24 so....
Even compared to contemporary and recentish Roguelikes...this is just a fantastic achievement for one man all by himself. He's been working on this for the past 7 years.

I like roge-likes and this one looks pretty cool, but 19€ for it? I don't think so.

I'm also a fan of rougelikes (Currently Z+ and Un Angband variants), unfortunately with the wide variety of free ones out there (some with a huge amount of depth), you'll have trouble trying to get me to pay for one.
Could be worth at least checking it out though.

Huh? When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was free. Then I was thinking to myself "yeah this looks so good, the developer should release it as a commercial project, maybe for $5"
But then I read the comments here, and I've changed my mind about getting it. Shame, because this looks like a very good Roguelike. Even Unreal World, which seems to have broader gameplay than Mines of Morgoth, is sold for only USD3

The danger with sites such as GOG is that people get used to prices which are far lower than what actual game developers need to charge in order to survive. :-/

Very interesting articles. I agree with most of his points, but while I'm happy paying 15€ for World of Goo or Braid, I would not be as happy paying the same price for a product I think is inferior.

I've been reading his blog since he started, I now have a greater love-hate feeling towards the guys arguments than from his earlier columns for websites.
I somewhat agree with Jeff on the price point, or at least, I can see where he is coming from. He has his following, but I feel like he lacks distribution for the comparison he wants. The indie cRPG market is *tiny*, so he gets away with it for now.

Well, there's the free demo and there's nothing to say he couldn't eventually have sales and such since he is doing all this directly and not through something like Steam and the like. Pricewise, it is STILL cheaper than Scallywag on PC or any of the Wii/DS Roguelikes at release date. Yeah, there's free PC Roguelikes, I love them, but this here is something with a unique feel and origin behind it.

Yep, both those game have been on my todo list for awhile Panthro...good on ya for posting though as I do believe the latter should find some fans for it in this thread.
