Oddworld just got Stranger...

We visit the epic world of Abe and Munch to meet a third protagonist of the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue/#all_genres/search/oddworld/]Oddworld universe. Meet the Stranger, a badass bounty hunter. This installment of the series brings us into the spaghetti western setting of Sekto Springs. The main goal of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is to gather enough moolah for a mysterious operation that the Stranger has to go through. To fulfill this you’ll hunt a plethora of villains and criminals which, like in any bounty business, are worth more alive than dead. The Stranger is on the trail of the ultimate bounty that would pay for all of his needs: the last of the Steef, a race of guardian creatures that are purportedly extinct...

As in every Oddworld series game, Stranger’s Wrath is oozing with the signature design of Oddworld Inhabitants polish and it is an unique blend of a first person shooter with a third person action adventure game. Either shoot your way with your trusty firearm or traverse the vast plains of Oddworld. Another example of the Oddworld flair for the bizarre lies in the game's weapons. Stranger, as a professional bounty hunter, has a two-barreled crossbow that uses “live” ammo ;) Live being living and lethal. Choose from 9 different critters to lock and load your weapon and unleash living hell on various Outlaws and criminals. This game features an extensive list of upgrades of Stranger’s equipment, such as the crossbow, the munitions, storage capacity and armor upgrades.

I have a dual-core 2.1GHz Vista machine with 2 GB RAM and some old graphic card (Vista says GEForce 6100 nForce 405 now but I'm pretty sure it was 7300 once, before I updated the drivers... ??? In any case I often have trouble with Shader requirements by modern games). I usually can play anythiong up to 2006/2007 and some newer games with less demandings system specs.

Do you think it might run smoothly on my system? If so, it goes on my wishlist but I'd hate to pay 9.99 for a game I can't play ...
These are the requirements you can find on the GoG webpage of the game. I did not play the game so I cannot say if it will work. Sorry

They are the same posted on Gog.com, so I think that these are official.
BTW on some forums I've red about a lot of frame rate problem for this game.

One thing can be said about all this

When your computer is not powerful enough to run a GoG game (except TW2) then there might be a problem

i dont know how they can call this a good old game :O tbh just read the forums and watch the gameplay videos .....avoid it

Horribly made console port, of not so fun game at all anyway...
this man speaks the truth, its a bad port and i was hoping this would never come to gog :|

It's a really good and innovative game.
It worth a playthru.
Simply is NOT old (the PC version is dated 2010) and is NOT optimized, but it's a port of a (quite) good old game.

Well... Most people here prefer DRM-free>Steam, because the first let you OWN AND KEEP what you paid for. The game is yours. Period. As far as I remember, you guys in Greece pay in Euro. Google says 9,99 US-Dollar = 7,05508475 Euro. How is that exactly the same as Steam? Steam wants 9.99 Euro, which is 14,14584 US-Dollar, according to Google. Sure... You can find someone in the US to gift it to you. Achievement "Try to purchase a game" unlocked ;) Or you can change your IP to one located in the US. Achievement "Breaking Steam's rules, getting caught and lose all your games" unlocked...

ya i know its good[awesome on the consoles] i was talking about the pc version, here is a list of changes they made so far lol, worst ported game ever that they had to include basic options in the patches

4. Added customisable controls (See below).
5. Added support for third party "generic" joypads.

This is one of the best Oddworld adventures I ever played. Loved it on the Xbox, haven't played it on the computer though, so I am not sure about the port. If it is anything like the console version this is a must have!

I can run almost all games on GOG but my machine (bought in 2007) is not powerful enough to play TW1 (2007) and "King's Bounty: The Legend" (2008) with acceptable speed or framerates. So I probably should stay away from Stranger's Wrath? Too bad. :(

Even The Witcher 2 (and TW2 it's a GREAT GAME) is missing some basic feature that will be implemented on 1.3 patch (like 4:3/16:10/5:4 support).
A lot of old game lack of resolution/control remapping not mentioning widescreen support.
When it was launched the port was a mess, but now the game is enjoyable (keep waiting for the HD version).

I agree. It was a horrible mess at launch but ran fine after about 1 month of patching.

If I were thinking about buying it now, I'd probably wait for the HD version.

Indeed the link you posted is funny...you know why? it happened to about 25 users out of 25 million STEAM accounts.........unlucky indeed ;)....also you must be forgetting the STEAM SUPPORT right?

Well i wasn't referring to Greece or generally Europe but to the world's biggest games market...and you know pretty well what that is...right?...also the U.S. Steam is INDEED $9.99

As regarding the steam problems...well check the last update on steam regarding the online service....and also you can play the steam games(at least those that are not steam-protected) whenever you want OFFLINE too...

If you are a 14-years-old kevin who plays all 25 Call of Duty or 99 Fifa, 8 months is also a great deal
