sheepdragon: I downloaded this game from some abandonware site some time ago, and played it through DOSBox (which I suppose is what is done here), where I experienced minimal problems with getting it to run, so apart from some DOXBox configuration (which might not be necessary), I doubt you'll have to do anything else. In any case, I'm going to purchase this when I get home from work, so I could give a status report then.

Thank you. I would rather hear form people before committing to buy it. I look forward to your report.
Awesome, games I'm not interested in! I can actually SAVE MONEY this week! First time in ages... They'll probably release rainbow six as a surprise on thursday
I find it interesting, but I have a question. Is it normal that the screenshots are in French?
I kinda find it strange considering only the English versions are available here.

I agree it's kind of strange, but I have checked and can confirm that the GOG-versions of both these games is multilanguage. They can be played in English, French and German (and the first one also in Italian).
Now all we need is Eye of the Beholder...
Not a good place to start with dungeons, is it? :D
Classic RPG Ishar on GoG? I buy it! :)
I remember this game when i was young. It was to hard for me. :)

Faithful: I personally think GOG should focus on getting what they have for sale working properly before adding more and more games that may or may not work correctly.

I agree. I still have a bunch of issues with Beyond Good and Evil.

Well, it was as I suspected. DOSBox, of course I tweaked the configuration a bit (this is done in the conf file in each games respective folder). I changed aspect= from false to true, so that I would get the game in full screen, and I changed the cycles from 7000 to max.
The game started up fine, and I was even able to select between 4 (Ishar 1) and 3 (Ishar 2) languages, including English, French, Italian (not in Ishar 2) and German. When you select languages and such, I had to use the numpad, but this might differ for other computers.
When I started up I was greeted with the Silmaris logo, and a strange *beep*, like some kind of malfunction (might have been intended, I dunno), but the game continued regardless.
The sound and music worked properly, and the games seems to work just fine. One thing to note, is that when you try to skip all these things in the beginning, there seems to be a button that pauses it, so just slam your face over the keyboard, and it should all be skipped.
As for the gameplay, I'll only say so much that it is completely mouse driven. You have a map, that's a bit hard to understand, but you will be given directions early on, and checking the action on the characters, and clicking orientation, you will see the direction to areas adjacent to you (E : OSHIROD for east to Osghirod etc.).

Nice catch.
I remember this series to be the best of its kind along with the eye of the beholder games and raven soft's black crypt.
I agree that the bundle should be the three Ishar's! but 1&2 is great anyway, nothing beats the beauty of Ishar 3 though, and it is a much more polished game than the other two (from what i recall)
Yikes, these are some hard games! I've not had much luck with them so far...
How long are theses games? At 17 meg download I am thinking not too long of a game if the 17 megs is divided between two games?
There you got, GOG, take all my money!

They are quite long, but remember these are from back when we didn't have gigabytes of hard drive space to fill up, everything had to be as efficient and compact as possible.
I remember playing the trilogy way back when, and getting roundly trounced at every turn. Hopefully I'll have a better experience this time around!
Definately need more RPGs though!
