Thanks for the kind offer deonast. $5.99 is no big deal for me, especially for such a great game, so please enjoy it for yourself.
What a great community that we have here, that there are gifted games and people willing to share, etc.
The internet is usually not so friendly... I love GOG.. :-)

deonast: Thanks WIshing Well. Actually I feel bad that I seem to have claimed it. I looked at drhoads post about how he was to late after he found out how to claim. I went to www.gog.com/gift as he suggested and keyed in the code and it worked which I didn't expect as he said he was too late.
I feel a bit bad now that I got the game instead of him. If there is a way to switch it from my account to his instead that is ok with me before I go ahead and download it.
Sorry drhoads
I played this a ton when it came out. Dynamite space sim.
Thank you so much for adding it to the site. :)
Well thanks drhoads, I hope you have a bit better luck on the next game. Even though you may not have intended, thanks for your help with the www.gog.com/gift link to claim the games, without mentioning that I would have been still trying to use the code at the checkout and assuming that it not working meant someone had already claimed it.

How disappointing. It's suffering from not only the issues it had on retail versions, but new problems as well. I certainly hope we can work these issues out soon. I really miss the mining mod.
Great addition to the GOG catalog.
OMG I have been waiting so long for this and now I can't buy it. Thank goodness it's pay day for me tomorrow. = D Going to get this one for sure = D I don't know why but I like Independence war 2 way more than the first.

Yes it is unfortunately. I own the physical copy and bought the GOG release in the hope that it'd have all the problems ironed out, as they did with the original I-War. I really hope these can be fixed too.

soulgrindr: I really wish I still had a joystick. And that shops still sold PC joysticks.

Aliasalpha: Online ones do, I suggest a logitech extreme 3d pro, fairly cheap and damned good quality, mine's lasted me several years of less than friendly treatment
Also: Woo! I-War 2!

You don't happen to be the AliasAlpha that used to post on the Codemasters OFP forums do you?

Great game, worst GOG.com release so far. Not at all optimized for modern PCs and simply unplayable.
Hopefully GOG.com will listen to the feedback and do something about the issues.

You mean you hope GoG can get it fixed. With so many years behind the community's attempts, I'm a bit worried.

The best thing we users can do is writing directly to GOG's support, and describing the errors with much detail as possible: ;)
http://www.gog.com/en/support/contact
And also read and post at the game's own sub-forum, but I've noticed you two did this already:

I spent I do not know how many hours on that game! The cut scenes are really good, the in-game music is one of the best I've heard for that kind of sim. Getting accustom to the control is a challenge but with joystick+throttle it's a pleasure to fly and fight. Yes the game is hard and what I like is even if I have the best fighter and equipments I am not invincible. You need to think before attacking and anticipate the next move when firing. The game is HUGE (Firefrost is tremendous!) and nice in spite of his age. The storyline is solid, their is a variety of missions, and the voices are great! Why is there no more sim of that quality nowadays ?!
For those who found the original I-War a little overwhelming, EoC is easier to get started in. Still not Wing Commander, but a much more accessible sim than IW1.
