I recently bought a laptop what low-end multi-player games would my fellow GOG'ers recommend?

Multiplayer? Doesn't it basicly is how fast your network is?

Team Fortress 2 probably isn't too bad - its on the HL2 engine and that was always good at running on lower specs than you'd have thought it would have, its free as well so you might as well give it a shot, it would be a good barometer of what works and what doesn't at least
For a low-end option, Unreal Gold would work.
Quake Live
Killing Floor
Enemy Territory
Unreal 2k4 (assuming anyone still plays.)
Counter Strike 1.6
Battlefield 1942

Can't think of any other low-requirement games off the top of my head.
StarCraft 2 and WoW run well on low-end laptops.
The biggest problem is that we don't know what your computer specs are. We need Ram/CPU/GPU to really give some informed guesses. As an example, TF2 is actually quite system intensive and wont run on anything less then 512 vram.

This. We need some more info, otherwise we're just shooting in the dark :\
