That was horrifying, yet I couldn't look away...
Those eyes... they haunt me...

Ghorpm: Me too! But what I love most is the real explanations of those myths. Because usually they were inspired by some real and... rather ordinary situations. Actually each myth has several possible explanation. Hydra's regeneration power may come from the observation of a vain struggle to stop a stream. Every time people tried to block its way it just divided and they had to deal with two streams... of course it's just a hypothesis but I really like it.

My personal favorite is that of the Trojan Horse. The way Iliad pictures it is so irrational that many people tried to find a different explanation. And they came up with an idea that perhaps Greek soldiers defeated Trojan's cavalry scout unit and dressed themselves in their uniforms. Then they galloped straight to Troy. Defenders, seeing their own unit, kept the gate open and when they realize it was a trick it was already too late to close it. And so a small unit of the Greek soldiers got inside the city and all they had to do was to secure the gate so that the main army could get into the city as well - more less like Homer described. I really like this one!
So true, I love mythos, there is so much fascinating history hidden with in such tales of fantasy, and creatures of endless wonder. I would love to find out the truth hidden in many of these fantastic works throughout history. I realize some has been discovered, but there is still so much out there waiting to be. I actually have a copy of the Odyssey and the Illiad around here somewhere, I should dig it out and re-read it. :D
