Sorry to make a thread about this, but I am heading out this morning (3:30am here) to get knee surgery for a torn quadracep and some damaged cartilage / tendons / ligaments. It's driving me a bit mad, as Fed Ex should be delivering all my new computer stuff today, and I'll be in a leg immobilizer for six weeks before I can even start physical therapy.

Once I pay off the new computer, I'll throw another giveaway to celebrate, but for now, I just figured I'd ask that you guys wish me luck! I'm not one to be nervous about surgery, and have had knee surgery in the past so I'm not anxious about the actual procedure, just about the long recovery time and frustrating issues that come with it.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask for some good thoughts, not so much for me as for my wife and folks. I'm not the praying type, but I've nothing against it either. So long as I can get the computer set up afterwards, all will be well. Otherwise, THE OPERATION WAS A FAILURE. lol ;)

I may decide upon returning from the surgery to just have a giveaway with one of the games I've been trying to trade, as I hate games collecting dust, real or binary.

So sorry for the rambling thread, I hope all have a wonderful day! I can't wait to start installing some games on the new rig.... (!!!)
Best of luck to you, man. And good luck with the new computer as well ;-)
Going under is a drag. My best of luck with the recovery, that really is the bitch about it. Keep us posted. :D

ps The worst thing is with operations like that no BIG scar, and no BIG scar means NO hot girls fawn on you for being rugged. What's the point in getting surgery if you can't use the scar top pick up women!?

Hope all goes well, thoughts and best wishes.
Kick that busted knees arse... uhm... yeah!

Speaking of knee surgery, I had an interesting chat with my mum today. She's a house cleaner and mentioned that the husband of one of the women who employs her is actually the orthopedic surgeon who worked on my brothers knees, this was something neither of them realised until after she got the cleaning job there. They recently moved house and now live next to another orthopedic surgeon who, as it turns out, worked on mums ankle. Small world!
I used to be a GOG poster like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee
I hope you get well soon. Good luck with your operation.

That's what you get by playing Skyrim too much! :D

Now for the serious part, Best of wishes for the operation and a speedy recovery akhliber!
All the best to you! I hope everything goes well!
Good luck for the op and enjoy your new computer :)
Best Timing Ever!
6 weeks of gaming on your new PC =)

On a side note: I hope your surgery goes well and that you recover quickly. Good luck with the exercises!
Dude, there absolutely nothing to worry about. I had two surgeries, one on the right knee in February, and another on the left knee in April. Ligaments had to be reattached because they were attached in the wrong place due to the Osgood-Schlater crap that I have, meniscuses cleaned up (several pieces were running loose inside there, causing severe pain with each step, which I had to suffer for several years), and a few other things that I can't think of a way to say in English right now.

You will most likely be given a local temporary anaesthetic, and you won't feel your legs for about 12 hours or so. Your back may hurt terribly for a few days if you've never been given that kind of anaesthetic before, mine did the first time, but the second time it hurt for only a few hours.

About the recovery period, expect to spend at least one month "chained" in bed, after which you will start going to rehabilitation, getting massages, doing workouts, playing in a pool, and do other stuff to improve your condition.
