Andy_Panthro: I found SQ4's narrator a bit hard to take, but that's mainly because I had only played the version without voices until recently.

Thank God I'm not the only one. Like you, I played the disk version for years, and it was very jarring. (Plus the graphics seemed noticeably less detailed in the CD-ROM version.)
Guess I'll get around to trying this new "King's Quest" title when they've released all the episodes. (I don't like to ruin the flow with the wait between.)

Surprised that Activision dropped the C&D [Cease and Desist] on this project after stopping all progress a few months back.
To those folks complaining: Its a fan project. It isn't developed by a professional dev house, but by people who loved the KQ series... cut 'em some slack.
Oh, and to the person wondering why the couldn't charge: The dev team was only granted a non-commercial license to the KQ IP. They are not allowed to legally charge for the product as it isn't their property - the main reason Activision shut them down is because they didn't recognize the "fan license" that was granted them by the original KQ development team.

Red_Avatar: Two things are off putting and one of those two is a dangerous one: the narrator is BAD. With descriptions of items being quite long, you often hear her starting to bumble around after half a sentence, putting the wrong emphasis on certain words. It's very distracting. I'm a firm believer that adventure games should not have a spoken narrator - unless they're actually great at it, like in the Space Quest games.

Andy_Panthro: I actually liked the narrator... personal taste though. I found SQ4's narrator a bit hard to take, but that's mainly because I had only played the version without voices until recently.

Oh man I loved the narrator from SQ4. "The aroma of several adventure games emanates from your person."
