Hi all,

I would love to play Heavy Rain, but I guess it will never be coming to the PC platform.

Years ago, there was this amazing PS 1 emulator called 'Virtual Game Station'. You could just pop in a PS disc in your computer and it would run brilliantly.

I can not afford a PS3 at this time, nor do I have any place to put it. Are there actually any plans/projects for PS3 emulators, or is that a big 'no go' in terms of Sony not wanting this?

PS3 emulators are not a realistic prospect at this time - heck, PS2 emulators still leave a lot to be desired.

The problem is that by emulating a system, the system requirements tend to skyrocket. So it's simply not feasible to do so right now.

Stupid Heavy Rain and stupid PS exclusive.. ;p

Emulators of the PS3 and 360 are not going to be around for a long time. There's one for the Wii, but as mentioned even a decent PS2 or Xbox one is a few years down the line.

On the plus side, Heavy Rain was kind of silly, so you've saved yourself a few hours.

I love story driven games, that's why I am interested in Heavy Rain. Don't really care for the QT events though.

I'm also just a PC gamer but a few PS3 titles, including Heavy Rain, make me consider buying that console. Emulation doesn't make any sense since the PS2 generation. Too many games make use of the special features of the controllers. Even Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 weren't really playable on the PC via emulation because these games made massive use of pressure sensitive buttons. You aim by pressing the fire button and whether you shoot or stop aiming depends on how fast you release it - I have yet to see a PC controller to support this. And even the developers of the best emulators haven't addressed this issue yet (at least it was the case last time I checked about a year ago) despite the fact that even the mediocre official PC port of MGS 2 had solved this issue in a decent way a decade ago. And considering that Heavy Rain makes massive use of all the features of the even more complex PS3 controller... forget emulation. (and note that connecting the PS controllers to a PC is indeed possible but their advanced features aren't supported - again, at least this was the case last time I checked)

I'd say: either try getting a cheap PS3 or watch a walkthrough on YT if you're really mainly into the plot (that's what I did with Metal Gear Solid 4 - after all, it's actually just an awfully long and cheesy movie with a few interactive interruptions :P).

I would love to play it too, one of the few console games that I genuinely want to play.

Honestly, I wouldn't rule it out, Quantic Dream aren't owned by Sony; also, QD do have a precedent of releasing on PC. Although, having said that, I wouldn't count on it any time soon =(

The controllers aren't at all the hardest part, as there exist ps2 controllers for pc.
It's certainly and without a doubt the system requirements...Every game must have corresponding settings to work properly if you look at the example of the ePSX emulator...

You could always watch a let's play or walkthrough on youtube. I know it sounds cheesy, but you'll at least get some entertainment out of it. =)

Recently bought it, and I'm almost done with it. Brilliant, but very flawed game. Excellent story. My favorite part is how intense everything is, because if you screw up at something, the game quickly autosaves and its permanent. There are no game over screens. A character dies, and theyre dead, the story changes based around how you fail. I need to restart personally. lol

Meh... played HR, never finished once. There's no gameplay to speak of, the movie part suffers from incredibly overstretched scenes and the story feels like a someone threw TV police drama, Saw movies and other stuff like that into a blender.
Gets much worse with Move.

I was very unimpressed with HR, to me it was just a glorified tech demo for the PS3 six axis (sux axis) controller. I remember feeding babies and putting on bandages and stuff, for no apparent reason than to make use of a controllers features rather than be part of the actual game ...and the ending!!!! ffs!

Even the stupid story where after the beginning the father is ever left alone with a kid again is beyond belief.

QTE's that dont really matter other than to use a controller feature.

Sorry for going on, I just dont get the games popularity, I know different strokes for different folks etc. No offence to anyone intended.

I really love story driven games. Giminue Rue, Full Throttle, for example. The Heavy Rain story looks very interesting (from what I've seen). I guess I'll only know if I like it when I start playing it. :)
