Here's a little something for the Arcade shmup enthusiast:

http://code.google.com/p/friking-shark/

It's a very faithfully reproduced version of Flying Shark - now in full 3D, and with game editor included.

Both enemy behaviour, placement, difficulty and design is spot on compared to the original Arcade version. Try playing the arcade rom in mame and then this version ;)

Oh, and the game is open source too!
Nice, remember playing Flying Shark in the arcades and on my Commodore 64 back in the day. Like the way the planes just dont explode in a fireball like all shooters from that era (1942 etc). It looks like a decent makeover for a classic game.

I hope that someone decides to do Ajax (Typoon) also, second level diving in the plane to take out the carrier would look amazing. Afterburner would also be another one that would be worthwhile doing for modern hardware, got TopGun on Steam but its just not the same, more like Hawx.
Looks nice. I love shmups. ^_^ Thanks for posting this.

This brings back memories. I'm tempted to test if I still have the old arcade skills. :)
Cool, thanks for posting this +1
