I recently bought the Witcher 1 for mac from this site but the download speed is very slow. I even downloaded the GOG downloader and can't get it too download quickly enough. It's now running at about 300 KB/sec for a 9.9 GB game. Is there anything I can do to increase the download speed or is this just the order of business with this site? I'm not sure my computer's specifications but it's a new macbook pro; so whatever hardware comes with that. Barring that, is there anyway to get a refund for the game since my download didn't finish? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

You could go into the GOG Downloader's settings and change "Number of concurrent connections" to a higher number.

I've tried that already, unfortunately it still isn't very fast.

Well, 300KB/s is two and a half megabits, that's not so bad. Set it to download, go to sleep, play it tomorrow. If you can sustain that rate, you'll have the game pulled down in a little over eight hours. Not exactly refund-worthy.

Also, I believe [citation needed] that GOG's policy on refunds is that once you've begun to download the game, you are no longer eligible for a refund. That policy makes sense when you consider the DRM-free nature of the files you're getting.

The same title is DLing just fine for me right now, about maxing my 10 Mb connection. Leads me to believe the problem is at your end.

I have a very high speed connection, but will run into this problem occasionally as well. The only 2 things that I have found that helped were: 1. wait until a different time to try downloading, or 2. I have had some success "pausing" the download, then "un-pausing" or continuing it again. It will often build back up to a faster dlld speed, but then will slowly decrease to a crawl. I have found that if I keep doing it, sometimes it will maintain a decent speed for quite a while, and sometimes maintain it till the game is completely downloaded. It's a bit of a pain in the ass, because of the constant monitoring (I find something else to do nearby, or on the computer in the meantime) , but it does eventually get the job done in my experience.
