The problems with the computer continue. It's running startup repair for the second time in 2 weeks. Last time it barley booted up. HEEEEEELLLLP

Now, are there any noises? Have you been going to rather questionable websites that like to leave you with a little something-something in your browser? Have unistalled anything recently? Have you ran an AV scan? Defragged the hard drive? Scandisked the hard drive?

What else happened before that? Any symptoms on the days/hours before it needed to be startup repair'd? What major installs/system changes/etc did you do up till all this happened? Did you drop the PC or did it receive a jolt of current somehow?

Did you also run a scandisk (full with recover) to check for and attempt to fix bad HDD sectors? After startup repair completes i'd recommend running one by popping in the OS install disc and when it's menu comes up when you reboot the PC click the command line/command prompt option and type c: and hit enter, then type chkdsk /r and hit enter. This will take a few hours so be patient.

More info would be appreciated. It could be anything, from a dying hard drive to a knackered WIndows install to dodgy RAM / RAM port or more besides.

My first port of call would be a format and reinstallation of Windows. But it might not be that.

Only I go to are: Facebook, gog.com (duh) google, reddit, youtube, and minecraft forum.

S*** it just Blue screened.

When I get it to work i'll do the last 3 suggestions you gave me.

Also run a system file check(checks and restores system files) at the same command prompt following instruction step # 2 under instructions in the first post of this guide:

sfc instructions

It's definently a problem with software. Hard drive is not dying. BTW guys i've had this computer for 3 years. It is install with WinVistaThank you. :)

I edited that post, so be sure to re-read.....also follow my original post's advice(and Judas's too) to run a scandisk after running the sfc/system file check following the proper steps(Reboot with OS disc in drive and boot to it when prompted, run command prompt option of OS disc menu, type c: then hit enter, then type chkdsk /r and hit enter.)

Man, Facebook has been rampant with virii/trojans. My dad had issues after someone else visited FB on his comp.

OK. Try running an antivirus scan first and see if that nets anything...

In that case, if you have everything backed up (or as long as you can do that first) then put in the Windows disc, restart and go for a clean install. I'd also back up installers for your drivers and favourite programs.

It's the best way of dealing with problems like this, as other methods won't solve all your problems and / or other things affected by these problems. For instance, how a virus might also trash your registry.

Did a windows update get interrupted? Is your virus protection program set to do scans when you start your computer?

OK man. No can do.
MS security essentials does a quick scan shortly after startup but it doesn't the chance in a split-second. Also Win update did not get interrupted.

Check over your HD after the AV scan, you may,, or may not, have a bad sector from the scant bit of info I am getting from you.

If I recall correctly, booting with the OS disk should allow you to access the "Repair Your Windows Installation" option.

BTW guys the BSOD's stop code is 0x0000050

Ok. Then it's probably not a security program of some kind that have wormed itself into your boot sector.

I second the easy and often best solution of backing up all your important stuff and then do a reinstall of windows. It's a pain and take forever but it do solve many problems.
