Roman5: I'm secretly hoping for a "SEGA joining GOG" announcement...
avatar
haydenaurion: Considering that their old Genesis/Mega Drive games are on other DD services and recently showed up on DotEmu, I think that would be a safe guess as to what is going to be announced. Personally I see SEGA's arrival on GOG as imminent, I just hope SEGA also brings the Total War games (with expansions) here too. I've got Shogun 1 Warlord Edition, but not everything in the game works well on Win XP. :(
If SEGA joins GOG this year then I'm bumping one of my old threads and making a "Roman5 turned out to be right as always" Thread Number 2: "The sequel"

JCD-Bionicman: It's quite obviously, Shadowrun.
avatar
Nirth: You must have missed this: Shadowrun Returns
Interesting. Did you mean to say that this gog announcement in particular was not shadowrun though?

You've misunderstood what GOG are talking about. Note the ® after Cyberpunk. This means they are talking about the P&P game of the same name, which holds this trademark, rather than the genre in general.

Nirth: Well I've read that Windows 8 is pretty much a new OS, even Windows 7 had data that was originated from Windows 95.
But I'm not exactly betting that it's a complete ground up rewrite á la Mac OS 9 vs. Mac OS X.

BJWanlund: I will totally note the use of the PLURAL of OS, and not the singular of OS. I am going to take this to mean that not only is GOG coming to Mac OS X at long last, but it is also coming to Linux as well as Android.
OS X I could see, especially if they partnered up with CodeWeavers to do WINE/CrossOver wrappers for a certain subset of their classic catalogue. If it happens, it'll be a lot sooner than I anticipated (which makes me wonder just how long they've been working at it). But I actually hope it's Linux, as right now it's Linux gaming which needs more of a shot in the arm than Mac gaming.

Android would be nice, but the only question would be, well, how? Shove their DOS releases into the Android port of DOSBox?

Oh yeah, and count me among the number who wonder just what was wrong with calling their Cyberpunk game, "Cyberpunk" in the first place.

Look, if you're not going to listen to reason (aka "the mean old jerks who downvote those brilliant topics of yours"), at least watch this video first:

and when you're done watching that video, watch this one.
I would love to see the Mac support. I am happy with my Win7 laptop and I don't want to upgrade it anymore.

On the other hand my 8 month old MBP (w/ ATi card) is able to run 73 games from my Steam account - I hope my GoG games will be able to do that too.

LordCinnamon: But PR fails are part of their PR strategy! (<3 you GOG)

TheEnigmaticT: :(
Sometimes I feel you're deliberately trying to sabotage it though; you haven't shut down once the last year!

(actually, I think you guys have been doing great on the pr department lately, a lot more open, active and consistent, and less.. crazy)
Lucas Arts please. Witcher 1 for consoles would be nice too, but I really, really want Lucasarts titles on GOG since I will NEVER, NEVER, EVER use Steam as I do not like being treated like a thief when I have already paid for something. So bring on GOG releases of Sam & Max, The Dig, Loom, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, etc!!!
Oh almost forgot.....Journey Man Project: Pegasus Prime PC conversion....then I'm set. :)

Agree like a billion percent
Mac support and Lucas Arts games.
Please...

NotJabba: I really like the sound of "literally unbeatable price."
Me too. Although I think that that GOG is cheap anyway - most of the good games are either $6 or $10 and after considering the fact that you get sometimes 50-100 hours of good entertainment you know that you pay "peanuts". So I do not know why they want to sell for less... Maybe they are moving to China....
can't wait!! hope you guys show something of Cyberpunk !!
Anything for FPS fans to look forward to in this press event?

Actually that's what I think it means therefore assuming it's the same from Vista to Windows 7 as it will be for Windows 7 to Windows 8 isn't right so it's a probable chance Windows 8 will at least be one of the OSes with new support. I don't think a lot of Windows 7 people need to jump Windows 8 right away but as future proof support I think it's good especially since GOG are specifically targeted for Windows. While I can see the enjoyment for others to support Mac, Linux and others I hope they only do that if resources are enough (which I hardly believe there is aside from games run via dosbox).
