Also - the Old Testament IS pretty fucked up, but that's OK, since it's obsolete because of the New one. The New Testament is pretty much "Religion 2.0", since the Old Testament is for Jews anyway ;].

Come on - it's full of twisted stuff. It might be addressed in some useful cases, but Christianity, as I've noticed, is a lot more about Jesus (nomen omen) than about the Father (it's all good, though, since it's the same God, amirite ;P ?). Consider the Christian philosophy - God is usually SO transcendent, you can't even SAY anything about him. Jesus is somewhat more tangible and a LOT more politically correct ;P.
Still - I major in Philosophy, not Religious Studies, so don't take my word for any of the above...

But nonetheless, the New Testament is equally invalidated by their desire to declare the Old Testament invalid. They're inseparable. Not only did Jesus' own sentiments on the matter confirm this, but his sacrifice to forgive our 'original sin'.

Oh and as for Jesus being politically correct, I don't know how politically correct his condoning of keeping slaves is. Or his condoning of killing them slowly. Or his desire to see disobedient children stoned to death... but yeah. Still, more so than his heavenly father at least.
