Well, to be honest, mobile gaming today is kinda like console gaming right before the NES in the US. Full of crap. But there are some really nice games, which could be bought someplace else though. So it's more of a choice of gameplay style more than game quality. For instance, you can play Thimbleweed Park on PC or on an iPad. It works great on both, you just need to determine if you prefer touch or mouse. Given the health of my wrists and forearms from using too much the desktop PC at the office, I would go with touch. I can't really game too much nowadays with a mouse because of it. Now I would play every single game on 3DS though... too bad some games just can't run on such a low res screen (FTL, Baldur's Gate, Monkey Island...).

I did however made my peace with mobile gaming. Like I said, Super Mario Run is pretty cool (though really short), and yes, is nowhere near a traditional Mario game on complexity but it's just as fun. I do believe Nintendo will go on with a Switch/Mobile combo instead of another handheld console (maybe a "lite" version of the Switch too). So wether we like it or not, mobile is here to stay. We have to face it. Times are changing, and now, young people do most stuff on smartphones and tablets than PCs. That will bring PC gaming down to a niche, just like handheld consoles, and if not for the multimedia aspect, home consoles as well.

Regarding the comments about "mobile gamers are idiots", I would actually modify that to say "most mobile users in general are idiots...". Most of the time they are using Facebook or Twitter or some other shit like that, not necessarily "crushing candies in a saga".

jamielt: As a regular city commuter, people who have to dig out their phone or tablet to play a game of Candy Crush or similar on a cramped 2 minute Tube (Underground) ride makes me question my sanity. The amount of times I am walking to work and encounter a mobile zombie and a quick glance is either social networking or crap game. I start to question humankind.

The only games I would purchase for a mobile device is essentially a classic PC game conversion. However, gaming on a mobile device leaves me frustrated! I have picked up a few but just ended up with another list of unplayed games to compliment my Steam/GOG collection.

Never got on with touch screen games, so essentially given up. Only recently spotted Chris Sawyer's Rollercoaster Tycoon (a game I adore) which is available on the app store and a couple of years ago, would have been an instabuy. Now just passed over.

The only game on an iPad I play, which works brilliantly, is Legend of Grimrock.
The only games ive played on an iPad and i actually had fun were

Devil May Cry 4:Refrain
Street Fighter IV (with multiplayer with friends on the go only)
Rayman games
Infinity Blade
Splitter Critters looks interesting:
