For me, it was that "one console". My younger cousin was a massive gamer and had multiple consoles and handhelds, so I'd pop over to hers to play N64, PS and PS2, Gameboy, etc. Also used to pop over for beyblades, yu-gi-oh, Pokemon....

Was never a ninty lad, but I merely drop the name Zelda/Banjo Kazooie/Golden eye to a few of my mates these days, and the nostalgia and fervour it triggers is astounding to behold... I just never "got" them, even now... Whereas I could always relate to Crash/Jax and Daxter/Ratchet and Clank, etc..
