So here's the thing. DirectPlay is a networking part of DirectX that is depreciated. Why so many games use it, confuses me slightly.
DirectDraw is a depreciated rendering layer thing. Why many games use/used this, confuses me less.
However, as of Windows 8, these are both considered legacy features, and while an insignificant chance, a future update to Windows 10 or 8.1 could cull these features permanently.
Blah blah blah GOG would have to fix then...OpenGL/wrapper and ???
I was wondering firstly if such a GOG mix already existed, or would even be wanted by the community.
