Satisfying!

We're testing out an up-and-coming feature in GOG Galaxy: Achievement Notifications that will be part of the game overlay in the future, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is our playground!

You too can experience that satisfying feeling of scoring a new achievement in GOG Galaxy, but beware - it's a Beta feature that's still being tested. On you.

November 12 - Update:
To enable your Achievement Notifications, first make sure that you have claimed and installed the 16 Free DLC pack. You should now see a new Game Overlay setting in the client (enabled by default), use this toggle to enable or disable the feature.
If you don't see your notifications - make sure that the feature was enabled for you automatically, or simply try turning it off and on again.

Enjoy the new (and easier to use) Achievement Notifications in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!

Ozbaab: Do I have to choose "overlay", or is "default" just as good?
you need to choose OVERLAY channel

kibbles: When this is no longer BETA, will I be able to disable this feature as I personally don't like achievements, and I especially hate achievement notifications.

Good on you steam for ruining spec ops: the line for me.
disabling features will be finally added to the client, but without ETA yet.

el-hubro: dummest idea ever!! please spare us anoying notifications in the game!
Or at least make them optional
you can turn off this feature in CONFIGURE section

toggstar: The achievement pop-up works as advertised, but my game has had a couple of random CTD.
But to be fair I can't say if it's the galaxy update or the windows 10 update that causes the crashes.
If you're experiencing any crashes after enabling the overlay, please post a few more details to help us find any issues:
- you OS, DirectX and graphics driver version
- graphics card morel you're using
- any graphical mod software (SweetFX, etc.)

If the game crashes in any particular spot repeatedly it would also be helpful if you could post a save game.
Most importantly, we're sorry about the inconvenience this must have caused. We're gamers ourselves, so we know full well how disappointing it is when your game suddenly refuses to work.

On top of what songoqu and Venom said, I also sent emails to you guys, asking for additional info, with some more specific instructions. I hope you can help us help you. :)
Unfortunately there was a multitude of changes between 1.08 and 1.11 regarding both the game and the overlay. Some problems were fixed, but new ones might have arisen. If you are still experiencing problems then I would like to ask you to submit a new ticket to our support team.

neorapsta: I've also been getting the random CTDs every few minutes. Mostly triggered at the beginning or end of quest dialogue scenes and when accessing a travel point.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 using 355.98
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300
No graphics mods.
What module are you playing? The base game or the Hearts of Stone expansion?

waranusz: Ago new patch the game five minute shut down..... i'am very angry.....
If you're experiencing issues you can disable the overlay in the "More -> Configure" section in Galaxy.

xondk: So returned to witcher 3 after a bit of a break.

Suddenly the game wouldn't launch from steam (which I use to take screenshots since there's no real other way other then separate programs and such)

So I twiddled around a bit, and if I disable the "game overlay" DLC, then everything works fine again, so it would seem that this overlay is causing issues?
Game overlay is an optional feature - as entire Galaxy. If you don't like it or it's causing any issues for you, please disable it.

disabling/enabling Game overlay:
More -> Configure -> DLC: Game Overlay

xondk: Oh, definitely understand, just thought I would make people aware of the issue, as I don't think the overlay was intended to break other overlays?, I enjoy galaxy quite a bit, actually hoping for a screenshot feature of its own, for games like witcher 3 that don't have a built in function of its own for that :) or at least not that I have been able to find. Which is why I use the steam overlay for screenshots currently, but yeah that was broken by the game overlay in witcher 3.
I think that Galaxy will finally get the screenshots capturing feature also :)

and about the bug, the overlay technology works in the way that sometimes can interferer in other overlays. ofc, we would like to have it working with all others.

xondk: Edit: I would like to make a suggestion in terms of game overlays, is it possible it can get its own checkbox on the first page of the game? rather then it being under game DLC? A button near play or such that would indicate if overlay was on or off since the feature is a galaxy feature not specifically the game?
Other then that keep up the great work :)
the game overlay button is temporary placed in the DLC section, once we have it working for all games it will be in proper menu.

Thanks xondk, nice to hear your feedback :)
