Punington: [...]
Your comment reminded my of the apex of terrible games, so to conclude I'll suggest a game which might ruin your life, 'Bushido Blade', A PSX game that's so bad that it might even be considered abandonware at this point, although after looking it up, it turns out some deranged individuals organized a tournament around it on 2018. And this was supposed to be about videogames helping people... Well, there goes the point of this thread, killed by no other than Bushido Blade, it makes sense.
noit sure what you mean here. Bushido Blade got very good reviews (in the scores of 80's), and there is a large fanbase for it. It got a sequel, and there is a HD remake.

It is different than other fighter games, yes, as there are for example no health bars or time limits. It is meant to be a more realistc fighter game, and it is all based around weapons and correct japanese figthing slyles. You need to know your stances, and how a weapon swing can be used to flow into another. This means that a fight can become very tactical, as you need to 'read' you opponents action and act accordingly. And as it based on Bushido, you get penalised for dishonrable attacks, such as attacking somone in the back. A fight can last 2 seconds (as it is weapon based, you can instakill an opponent, as you can in real life) or several minutes. It has an unique body damage system, so you can win a battle without killing the opponent, but maiming him by targeting body parts.

Overall, while it may be a marmite game, it is generally considered to be a very good and original fighting game, I have not seen anything else about it.

There is one game that eclipses all of the others: Grim Dawn. I played it an indecent amount of hours, on and off for the whole year, and I'm playing it right now too!
It's a drug, and a really powerful one.

Awesome, thanks for the comment! I didn't know about the remake, nor the high scores, nor the dedicated fanbase until today. Bushido Blade is very close to my heart as I had a great time playing it with friends many years ago, but I always thought it was a very obscure title as everyone played Tekken instead of a clunky fighting game in which characters could be taken down in one swing. Looking into this now, I've discovered a website in which Bushido Blade is ranked the 4th best Playstation fighting game! That's great, it even makes me smile, my memory of it it's of a terrible game that was delightful to play with friends, I might have to take a look at that remake then.

Tallima: Thanks for reading through my broken autocorrect. :) I'll have to try Bushido Blade. Terrible games are awesome.
You might enjoy it, although it turns out it isn't as terrible as I thought it was!
